I was listening to savage when he said it. I also have an autistic grand son. Make no mistake, he offended me and everyone in my family. He implies that most autistic kids act the way they do because parents allow it! I will never listen to savage again, nor purchase a product from a company that supports this jerk....

Yeah, 99% of us are bad parents, and our kids are brats, morons and idiots that need to snap out of it. I already knew Savage was a blowhard and an intellectual lightweight. This episode merely confirmed it.

is autism over diagnosed?

that is a very serious question.

In a time when an opinion diagnosis can mean extra benefits for a student, (tutors, time on tests, grants) it is very hard to deny manipulation of the system.

Imagine a student who gets all these benefits just by a mere diagnosis and then just before graduation is able to simply skip any negative consequences by stating “oops misdiagnosed” but they get to keep all the GPA and test scores.

Is Savage a jerk? yes, no denial.

Is there a point to the statement that Autism is over diagnosed? (just like Ritalin is overprescribed) I would hazard a guess that it is.

It is the overdiagnosis that hurts those children who have a genuine problem.

Lighten up! Quit being a victim and listen to the essence of what he’s saying...he’s saying that autism is over-diagnosed and he is absolutely right. Most problems with kids can be fixed with a good paddling to the rump and then some positive reinforcement once the kid gets the message and understands what is expected of him (truely autistic children not included of course).

I stopped listening to Savage quite a long time ago precisely because of the ignorant comments this man has a history of making, including this latest comment. I only know of this issue due to the MSM covering it.

“Make no mistake, he offended me and everyone in my family. “

Well...didn’t you try applying Savage’s wise advise?
Have you tried calling your grandchild a moron?
Have you told him to quit with the act?

Give it a try and let us all know how that turns out!
(do I really have to add a sarcasm tag?)

I’m sure Michael Weiner will back up his claims with solid proof.
When he says most of these children don’t have fathers, I’m sure he is referring to studies proving most “autistic” children live with single moms.
I’ll be waiting for him to publish that study.
When he says autism is overdiagnosed, I am sure he has concrete proof of this as well. I’m sure he can cite many cases where children were diagnosed after a battery of tests, but were actually found, later, to not have the disorder.
And when he says these children only need to be called “moron” or “retard” - I am sure he has conducted his own study using this technique and has miraculously cured several children with this fake “disease.”
I’ll be waiting for his book on that too.

“I will never listen to savage again, nor purchase a product from a company that supports this jerk....”

The beauty of capitalism....the market will determine if he keeps his job or not.
