Excellent points...

Here is what I am talking about regarding evidence...

I happened to be watching TBN on TV....Benny Hinn was on....he claimed that on some flight he was on, coming from an overseas crusade, there were horrid things afoot on the plane...he tried to claim, that aside from himself, and his crew, just about everyone else on that plan was some sort of a demonic spirit, that had taken up residence in human form, and these spirits were traveling, via plane, to get to the United States....Benny was not sure, if they were from the pits of hell, or some strange ET’s...but he assured us, he was right, those folks aboard that plane, were demonic spirits..he just knew it...

Now, some folks would take that silly anecdotal tale, and try to spin it, as evidence for their kooky theories...I am sure some folks believed him...because he had evidence, but that evidence was nothing but his strange tale...ah, but then here are folks, who believe that Benny Hinn can wave his magical arms about while onstage, and knock out the first 20 rows of an audience, thereby showing his extra special super duper powers, of slaying folks in the spirit....this presents the viewer with two possibilities....does Benny Hinn have such extra special super duper powers, or more likely did a large number of Benny Hinn supporters stuff those first 20 rows, and at a pre-arranged given time, while Benny was waving his arms, around, pretend to limp and become unconscious? Well, some folks would go with the first option, and use this stunt as evidence of Benny’s powers...I and others, would go with the second option, that Benny has no powers, just a good stage act...

Evidence of Benny’s demons aboard the plane, and evidence of Benny’s powers, all hinge on what the observer already believes about such things and what they think of Benny...there was no evidence at all, of these demons, just Benny’s anecdotal tale, pawned off as evidence...

If people want to believe in these airplane traveling demons, and special arm waving powers, then so be it...In these instances I chose not to believe...

Yeah, To Serve Man, had many layers to it...my boys, as children especially loved that episode....we adults admire that episode as well, because of the further meanings...

I gather you’ve never had the experience nor stood close to someone who’s had the experience.

Nice cheap shot.

I admit that at this hour the old brain is turning into pudding, so will continue this later, but the very mention of Hinn reminds me of Peter Popoff. I'll never forget the night James Randi played audio exposing him, on the Tonight Show, of all places!

Hinn takes one of the primal fears of this age, spins some religion and aliens into it, and rakes in the dough. "Send me them thar dimes and dollars, Quix!"

As for the faith healing, I've no doubt of some control of mind over matter, of.... I'm going blank - what's the word, psychosomatic? but I want to see an amputee grow another limb under Hinn's shouts and forehead slapping. Then I'll be impressed.

TV preachers are the worst. Too much overhead, too many sequins, and I'll also never forget that damned Jim Bakker asking widows to send in their wedding rings so that he could melt down the gold for his amusement park and Rolls Royce and that air conditioned dog house.(rolleyes)
