My stepson went to college in Murfresboro ... that plane is just too hot and humid at that near sea-level altitude. Here, we’re in the Appalachian foothills.

I used to know most of the counties as a kid, but had to look yours up. I know of Johnson City. Haven’t been any further east than Sevierville.

Welllllll, Dear Heart . . .

I don’t think the naysayers have sufficient objectivity to detect the difference between night and day . . . but here’s some stuff from the Trace evidence website—the head of which I heard at the Aztec 2008 Symposium in March:

There’s a lot of pics and tables I’m not going to try and fix the html on. Please go to the link:

UFO Trace Case Facts

The following presents a statistical analysis of data found in 3,189 reports involving observations of anomalous phenomena or objects on or near the ground resulting in physical effects generated by the unknown objects observed. These events took place in 91 countries between 1490 and 2006. There are hundreds of additional reports of possible trace sites which do not involve the observation of a UFO. All but the most significant of these events have been removed from the primary files and located in a secondary catalog. The analysis permits certain regularities of these phenomena to be brought out. The data indicates there is a certain type of phenomenon which shows stable statistical properties.

GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
Many of these events involve multiple witnesses, observing unknown objects under good seeing conditions, at close range, detailed objects visible for extended periods of time, resting on or near the ground with known reference points providing a certain connection between the observed object and the resulting physical traces. Small humanoids have been seen in a substantial number of cases meeting the high strangeness standards.

Reports indicate small objects ranging from less than one meter to 3 meters in diameter. An intermediate group of objects with diameters of 4 meters to 10 meters are often observed. Larger objects greater than 10 meters are seen at a reduced percentage of the total. There are many instances of animal and human effects, some quite severe, ranging from “sunburn” effects to very serious heat exposure. Animals, especially dogs, have a violent reaction not only to the observed object but also to the resulting ground effects. Most landing events involve observations with the unaided eye, few with optical aids (other than eyeglasses) and very few photographs of landed objects have been presented.

CIRCUMSTANCES OF OBSERVATION
The majority of cases involve witnesses going about their daily business, generally a farmer, alerted by his dogs or electromagnetic effects. In the high strangeness events one finds the witnesses were skeptics prior to their observation. These witnesses want no publicity and the investigator spends a great deal of time locating them. When the witnesses are finally located they will give up the information but only on the conditions that their names and the exact location will not be revealed. Farmers and ranchers present the majority of witnesses as the observed objects seem to prefer isolated locations.

TYPES OF OBJECTS OBSERVED
The data indicates five major types of UFOs which land or nearly land and generate physical effects on their immediate surroundings.

Type One
Very small devices, less than one meter in size. In recent years reports of white globes, as small as 12 inches in diameter have increased dramatically. They are generally described as spherical, white with no sound. They have been seen at very close range. A recent case involving two highly credible witnesses indicated that one of several white globes smaller than a basketball flew between the two standing 10 feet apart. It was 4 feet above the ground as it did so. Type One objects represent 28% of the total cases with estimated dimensions given.

CASE EXAMPLE
At an isolated farm in SW Missouri, seven adults observed a one meter object resting on the ground for two hours in daylight. They periodically observed the device over the two hour period thinking it was a piece of metal that had blown into the field overnight. There was no apparent movement and cattle stood less than 100 feet from the object.

The farm owner and his son walked to a large barn located 100 feet from the house to get a tractor to pull the ‘metal’ from the field. With five members of the family watching from the front porch the two men started the tractor. As they did so those on the porch began yelling as the object started to ascend. It ‘jumped’ vertically about 10 feet, paused, and then ascended slowly toward the north on a rather low trajectory. At the point of vertical ascent the men at the barn could not see the object which was 120 feet from the opposite side of the structure. They ran beyond the barn and watched the ascent from the east side of its flight path.

As all seven watched they could clearly see it was rotating, showing a dark section at about two second intervals. As the device silently increased its rate of climb and made a turn to the right followed by a sharp turn to the left flying across the wind. There were no visible wings or engines and no sound was heard as it passed within 165 feet of the witnesses on the porch. As they watched climb they noticed a much larger cylindrical object hovering higher in the NW sky. The smaller object finally joined with the cylinder which then moved away to the north.

A model of the Cato object by the seven witnesses.

Sketch of the Cato site by Deputy Steve Breeden
Where the object had rested in the field the family found a 1.5 meter slightly oval area which was dehydrated. The grass was crushed and discolored and inside that area two small craters. Dust had been blown from these craters onto large plants at the edge of the site, these were wilted, curling the leaves and trapping the dust in the folded plants. A third circular area, making these features a triangle, was tightly swirled. - Complete report on this case: The Cato Landing.

Type Two
Objects with an estimated diameter of 2 meters to 4 meters, these objects rarely make ground contact, generally hovering one to five feet above the surface. These objects represent 26% of the total cases with estimated dimensions given.

CASE EXAMPLE

Langenburg, Canada - A farmer of high credibility was swathing his rape seed crop at 1000, weather was overcast with a low cloud ceiling and light showers. As he approached a slough which was covered with high, thick grass he noted what looked like a metal duck blind in the high grass. He stopped his swather some 50 feet from the edge of the slough and walked toward the area which was somewhat elevated above the field. As he stepped up to the edge of the grass he a metallic, domed device which was spinning at a high rate of rotation. He could see dark ‘grooves’ on the surface and a wide ‘belt’ around the lower section. The object was five feet tall and eleven feet wide at the belt. At this point he became frightened and backed away from the spinning object.

When he reached the swather he climbed up to the seat, from this higher angle he could now see four more objects of the same size and shape, all spinning, the grass beneath each object was moving violently. The second object from him had two rod-like ‘probes’ which extended from the lower section of the device and into the grass. These rods were rotating and swirling the grass around them. He would later find two long disturbed areas extending from ring two.

As he watched the five objects suddenly ascended in a step formation vertically. There was no sound and underneath each of the five he could see two pipe-like extensions from which a burst of ‘exhaust’ was seen. The wind from these blew off his cap. When they reached the cloud base they stopped, formed a perfect line and disappeared vertically into the clouds.

At the slough he found five rings, each swirled in a clockwise pattern with the central areas undisturbed. The rings measured 3.3, 3.1, 2.4, 3.9, 3.24 meters in diameter. He was so disturbed by the event he decided not to tell even his wife or parents. At lunch his mother seeing he was upset by something finally forced the story from him. He took his father to see the rings. His wife told her sister, she told her husband and he called the RCMP.

There was a detailed investigation by the RCMP and the lead investigator, Constable Ron Morier, told me: “Yes, I believe that he saw something and I don’t see why he would exaggerate what he saw. There is no way this is a hoax. It was in the slough grounds, the grass was green and it was long and it was undisturbed except for the circles. Whatever was in there, it came out of the air and departed the same way.” - For the complete report: Langenburg Case.

Type Three
These devices are described as egg-shaped, cylindrical, or oval. Metallic in appearance with a length estimated at 5 to 6 meters. This type usually makes ground contact and displays 4 structured landing legs. Small humanoids are often seen underneath or very near the landed UFO.

CASE EXAMPLE

The well known Socorro, New Mexico event of April 24, 1964 - see Socorro in the Physical Evidence Files. Also see Valensole, France in the PEFs. These objects leave behind irregular burnt traces, four imprints presenting round or rectangular configurations.

Type Four
16% of the total reports describe a typical flying saucer with estimated diameters of 7 to 10 meters. Usually described as having a metallic surface, structural details and external lights. Landing legs are seen numbering three. They make ground contact and humanoids are often reported.

CASE EXAMPLE
Australia, 1966 - A well known case with witness George Pedley observing an object at close range at 0900. He saw a light gray, non-reflecting object, estimated to be 25 feet long and 8 feet thick, rising vertically from marshland. It then climbed at a 45 degree angle from a height of about 30 feet above the marsh surface. The object ascended at a point 75 feet from the witness. He could hear a hissing sound as the UFO climbed. He described it as two saucers, edge to edge. A slightly elongated circular depression remained in the swamp grass, the area measured 32 feet long and 25 feet wide. The grass was flattened clockwise to the surface of the water, reeds had been uprooted from the mud below.

Type Five
Objects described as larger than 10 meters in diameter represent the smallest number of cases. They are described as classic saucers or as cylindrical or cigar in shape. They are the largest objects observed generating physical traces.

Uzbekistan, 1984 - Technician Shamil Yuaihmetov and four other workers saw a cigar-shaped object at 2345. It was slowly descending at a 45 degree angle, they estimated the length to be more than 80 meters and 25 to 30 meters in diameter. The object flew over the men and descended behind a hill. It emitted a slight hissing sound and appeared to be metallic. The next day and area was found in the vineyard, three round imprints about 0.5 meter deep. They were in an equilateral triangle, their shape indicated globe-like pads. An area in the vineyard about 30 by 80 meters was destroyed. The event was investigated by S. P. Kuzionov, a member of the Geographical Society from Leningrad. The event was quite close to the Katta Kurgan tactical nuclear missile base. The military paid substantial attention to the incident.
