For Romney, now's the time to sweat
The Boston Globe ^ | July 22nd | Globe Staff

WASHINGTON - Mitt Romney is a shrewd businessman, known for his cautious approach to the nerve-rattling takeover business. Romney's colleagues even came up for a name for what happened when Romney's inner worries began to ruffle his carefully groomed appearance - "pitting," for when the armpits of his expensive blue shirts would start to darken from perspiration.

You would only arrive at that conclusion due to a Kool-Aid overdose.

Great find.

And consistent with this.

Romney was caught having to award himself an 'award'.
Is that not special?

"Behind the empty gestures and deceptive rhetoric, Romney was not pro-life
or a defender of marriage by any stretch of the imagination.
He was a disaster," said O'Gorman, of the board for Massachusetts Citizens for Life.
He said Romney "deceptively" claims to have been awarded
a pro-life award from the group.

"The award Romney arranged for himself with the local Pioneer Valley Chapter
was the Mullins Award for Political Leadership, not a pro-life award
and not approved by MCFL's state board of directors," he said.
"We're blowing the whistle to warn voters…
"

If someone were to do a content analysis,
i believe we’d see that
every single marxist Fifth Columnist who posts here
... disses Romney.

They think ... like i think ... that
Romney as Veep is the only way
that OBAMA LOSES.

Screw McCain.
But that’s the hand we dealt ourselves.

They won’t open their mind to Mitt. Florida would have been different if not for the mccain last minute UNTRUE attacks, huckabee phone sabotage and crist’s endorsement.

speaking of crist, he is supposedly going on a 12 day trip around the world recently,lolol..... guess he didn’t get the national coverage he wanted...
Texas governor Perry slapped him last night, compared his job growth with Florida’s loss.

I think it’s clear that the Obama campaign KNOW that people will not remember what the guy says two hours after the fact, but the photo ops will last for weeks.... if not forever...

McCain land in NH today and there’s one reporter at the airport...

Reading the postings, it appears some believe all these “very conservative” voters for Romney were duped. In order to bring order to their world, they must conclude that these “very conservative” voters didn’t educate themselves on Romney and instead blindly voted for him. How else can you explain these “very conservative” individuals voting for Romney?

Spamming the same useless DNC exit polls twice in the same thread again?

It makes them no more relevant.

Just typical spam.

Once again ....

Since you keep posting those dumb exit polls -— where people self-identify their political ideology and where people lie to the pollsters -— I guess you agree with those voters. You think Romney is more conservative than Fred Thompson.

I’d like to hear you explain that one.

Remember, when the GOP primary season was in full swing, FReepers were supporting two main candidates -— Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter. Willard was getting very little support on Free Republic and rightly so. Romney is a liberal.

Okay.

In your opinion, who is more conservative —— Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney? And your reasoning? Thanks

I was in favor of purging the liberals from FR who supported Flip after the primaries but they continue to push this liberal piece of canine excrement. Very disappointing.

Reno, my young friend,

First as to my opposition to Willard. 1. He is a liberal.
2. He is in a cult. Either would keep me from voting for him.
Together, it won’t happen for any reason. I’ve been very
forthright about that for a year, so there is no pretense,
as you put it. Just brutal honesty. Nor would I limit it to
the cult you participate in. I would act the same with my
conscience in every like instance.

As to your favorite Reagan comparisons...

Romney couldn’t carry the shoes of Reagan. They aren’t even
in the same dimension!

As a much younger fellow, I don’t believe you understand
the issues you raised about taxes or court appointees.

Never the less, you raise these issues to try to hide
Willard’s appointment of liberal judges, of his largest
increase in taxes in MA history, of his bankrupting MA with
forced government RomneyCare, of Falsely using the services
of fake policemen with fake badges (real honest guy there -
real set of moral values), and of Romney’s silence on the
millions Marriott raked in through pimping porn while Willard
sat approvingly and cashed the board checks that porn provided.

And yet you use Reagan and Romney in the same sentence...

At the end of the day, Romney is a liberal who tried to run
as a conservative. He fooled many, including you Reno. He
didn’t fool all. If McCain picks him, his chances of becoming
POTUS will go down.

Fred Thompson (and Duncan Hunter for that matter) is more conservative, in my opinion, than Mitt Romney. It is too bad Thompson ran such a poor campaign and was unable to get any significant traction in the primary election cycle.

Does it logically follow that the primary voters who were “very conservative” were too stupid to realize Thompson/Hunter were the most conservative? Not hardly.

Like it or not, Thompson and Hunter were fringe candidates who never were seen as viable candidates to win the primary. Those going to the voting booth had to choose between voting for a fringe conservative candidate who had no chance of being elected or voting for who he or she concluded was the most conservative of the three main candidates (McCain, Huckabee & Romney). When realizing those were the main three candidates of whom one would represent the Republican party in the general election, “very conservative” voters overwhelmingly selected Romney to represent them. That is the reality of why Romney garnered the majority of “very conservative” voters.

I certainly haven’t advocated Romney as the standard-bearer of conservatism because he isn’t; however, when compared to the other main candidates, he was the best of the three and that is what the conservative pundits realized as well.

Fred isn’t interested. I want McCain to wait. I don’t want Obambo’s team knowing one thing about who or whom McCain’s VP may be. Write Senator McCain and tell him it would be in his best interest NOT to announce his VP at this time.

OK, back to the First 48. Thanks for answering!

Ya know, I was in the process of putting together links, articles etc. for you to peruse, & then I thought, why? Why go through all that effort for someone who has completely made up his mind, is closed to any additional thoughts or learning, & who will just tell me how much smarter he is than those expressing their views. Sorry don't have the energy or the time. Google these issues w/ the standard bearers I've mentioned, & see how your views match theirs.

You have never answered why you think you know more than they & how. You have posted your feelings based on your own research, & I can respect that. The lack of respect for others that have done likewise & come to a different conclusion is what's disconcerting. Especially those who undoubtedly have a lot more access to research than you.

These are also people that have actually met w/ & in some cases, worked w/ Mitt. Who would have a better idea? Those that have met & worked w/ Mitt, or you? My money is on Rush, Bork, Levin, Ingraham, etc........ No offense.

Also, you continue to bash Romney yet never address the same issues that plagued Reagan. Reagan raised taxes significantly more than Romney, he signed the first abortion bill in Calif., he strongly supported the Brady bill. Yet he still became one of the greatest Presidents of all time. Why the pardon for Reagan & his liberal actions, & not for Romney?

Tell me where Romney differed from Reagan in his last speeches. Reagan had a vision after a less than conservative ride as Governor in Calif. Romney likewise. Will he end up the same? Not likely, but he is on the right track, & a track that is far better than many of the alternatives.
