For Romney, now's the time to sweat
The Boston Globe ^ | July 22nd | Globe Staff

WASHINGTON - Mitt Romney is a shrewd businessman, known for his cautious approach to the nerve-rattling takeover business. Romney's colleagues even came up for a name for what happened when Romney's inner worries began to ruffle his carefully groomed appearance - "pitting," for when the armpits of his expensive blue shirts would start to darken from perspiration.

Peter Pace would be great.

Unforunately McCain’s got the foreign policy/military creds down.

What he needs is an economic guru like Mitt on the ticket.

They don’t? Just how stupid do you think these leaders are? Never mind, I don’t even want to know your answer nor do I want to embarrass you.

Too late for that last part..

I think he embarrased himself when he started claiming Tom Tancredo was paid off by Romney.

You said: What he needs is an economic guru like Mitt on the ticket.

He should select him to be Secretary of Commerce not VP.

The problem with handicapping military figures on the ticket is that you never know how they’ll be out on the campaign trail (nevermind what their record on the issues are). Not to say he’s a bad candidate, just that I’d need more info about the guy. We can debate other candidates currently in office since they’re known quantities.

Just out of curiosity, do you feel Rush, Coulter, Hannity, Tancredo, Bork, Ingraham, Rove, Santorum, Levin, Hewitt, Buckley, Beck, etc...... are all pseudo conservatives?

If so, who are the real conservatives leading the charge right now in your opinion? Realize, these guys aren’t afraid to go after RINO’s as demonstrated by their disdain in many cases for McCain, Huckabee, etc. Why didn’t they go after Mitt in the same way & throw all their support behind Hunter, Fred, etc.?

Maybe they all know something you don’t, Romney is a conservative. If you feel you know better than they, please explain why & how you know better.

I bet it is!

I can't imaging going into late July wearing those bizarre long underwear.

New Mexico (it borders AZ, I think ultimately goes McCain)

Despite its proximity, New Mexico has little resemblance to Arizona. It is about 700 miles from Santa Fe to Phoenix and few people make the effort, except tourists. Arizona has greater familial and economic ties to Illinois or New Jersey than to New Mexico.

I have never seen anywhere where the anti-Bush and anti-Republican sentiment is so strong. I was in a bar where they had the TV on but the sound off and Bush came on the screen. There was a spontanious and nearly unanimous response of "A HOLE" from everyone in the bar. I don't know why and I didn't dare ask.

I'm afraid that the best argument for McCain is the Maverick image and the fact that he ain't Bush. There is one other factor that will help. It seems like nearly all of New Mexico has served or is serving in the Armed Services. Uniforms everywhere.

"Just how stupid do you think these leaders are?"

Is that a trick question ? Rush Limbaugh isn't a leader, he's an ENTERTAINER. I like watching Soaps, but I don't vote the way Erica Kane wants me to.

I don't consider Rush and the others listed to be pseudo conservatives. As I posted earlier on this thread. I also don't remember hearing Rush, Hannity, Ingraham or any of the others actually call Romney, a conservative. Have you? I did Rush say that Romney is talking the conservative talk, or something to that affect.

Since when does mere rhetoric make someone a conservative? In my book, it doesn't!

Now. If some folks want to accept the "conservative" rhetoric Romney spewed during one GOP porimary season, as hard evidence of his strict adherence to the conservative agenda, fine. Just don't expect real-deal conservatives like myself to support a McCain-Romney ticket.

So, if I understand you correctly, if you could put the “horses back in the barn” by repealing the 19th Amendment, you would be in favor of denying women the right to vote (and hold office)?

Am I correct from your comments that you think the 19th Amendment was a mistake?

I’ve been to NM many times, have family there, my father grew up there. I do know there’s a difference between the two states, but ultimately I find it ludicrous a Black Chicago Stalinist would be able to carry the state (unless Tubby ends up on the ticket). Sure, he’ll carry moonbat Santa Fe, Taos and the corrupt Northern Hispanic Dem counties, but I see McCain carrying most everything else there (again, presuming he doesn’t pick a ghastly VP choice — in which case, he loses).

You are presenting a straw man argument. Romney is what Romney is...a liberal. He fooled/deceived many conservatives into believing he is a conservative (although only a handful here on FR), but his record says otherwise. That does not make those who were deceived “non” or “pseudo” conservatives....it just makes them wrong.

If you can’t think for yourself, applying core conservative values to his record, and have to follow pundits, then that explains why you have been duped too.

I won’t RE-LIST all of the liberal aspects of Flip Romney’s record because it has been done over and over and over again for months on end.

Stop sippin’ the Kool-Aid and you might actually wake up.

Is Bork an entertainer? How about Tancredo, Santorum, Hewitt, Rove, Buckley? Care to extend & revise your remarks? Again, how stupid do you feel these guys are? Were you as ticked as I was when Bork got shot down in the nomination proceedings? If so, why?
