The President was in baseball heaven today:
BUSH HOSTS T-BALL GAME, THEN MLB PLAYERS AT DINNER
By Deb Riechmann

WASHINGTON - This year is the 100th anniversary of baseball’s unofficial anthem, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game,” but if you’re President Bush, it’s just as easy to bring the game to the White House.

Bush presided over a Tee Ball game on the South Lawn, then hosted a social dinner Wednesday in honor of Major League Baseball for about 240 players, members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, baseball officials and fans, administration officials and lawmakers.

MUST READ . . .

JUDGING (PRESIDENT) BUSH
By Bruce Walker

It is common these days, among Republicans (DrDeb: only some of the Republican ‘elites’; the rank and file still love and respect our President) as much as among Democrats, to follow the public opinion polls and judge President Bush as a grand failure. Is he? I have a different opinion than the public, and here are my reasons.

Bush is a good man
We take this so much for granted, but it is because of President Bush that we do. The eight years before Bush we did not take goodness in a president for granted at all. Clinton was a draft dodger who “loathed the military” and who lied about his deferment. Bush served in the National Guard honorably and his father served his nation with the highest honor possible in the Pacific.

BUSH’S PERSONAL AIDE RETURNS AT TOP
By Mike Allen
Wed Jul 16, 10:34 AM ET

Blake L. Gottesman, 28, formerly President Bush’s personal aide (DrDeb: and Jenna’s ex-boyfriend), is returning to succeed deputy chief of staff Joe Hagin, the White House announced Wednesday.

It is apparently the last senior staff announcement for this White House, since no more high-level departures are expected.

Gottesman, a Texan and longtime family friend, is the youngest person ever named to President Bush’s senior staff.

His title will be assistant to the president and deputy chief of staff.
