AB - The Sunday morning talk show thread may not end, but just change within the parameters of those still contributing’s abilities to do so. I miss a lot of things on FR I don’t see anymore, like John Quaing’s 2 % (or cent?) solution, and Mia-T’s universal view of things. The biggest problem I see here is reluctance of FR footsoldiers to actually watch these terribly biased Sunday morning shows. It is easier to just read the summaries on here and make random comments on the distilled summaries (it is more fun to drink the moonshine than make it from scratch). Handing out awards was great, but running the thread takes works.

You putting this up every week is a real chore. You’re doing the Lord’s work. Thanks.

I used to split the thread up 100 posts at a time. It took me 1-2 hrs to analyze every 100 posts. Back then we were running 600-1,000 posts with as many as 20,000 page views.

It was impossible most weeks to bring it down to a top ten so I wound up with basically a top "20" with maybe 5 or 6 at number 10 and double up on some of the rest.

The top three alone were lots of work.

I loved doing it but after 14,16 or even 18 hours I found my self mentally and physically exhausted. It was really something worth while doing and as AB has said it really did bring the level of post up as we would see lots of knowledgeable Freepers coming in before the end of the thread with major league words of wisdom.

It was always possible to merely do a quick top ten without all the analysis but I never really considered doing that with this group, just too many heavy hitters here.

I do miss doing it but currently unless someone else wants to pick up the slack,I'm stuck with too much other work.
