Obama limped across the finish line.
I remember Juan saying he was "wheezing across the finish line..."
Alas, apologies on no show reporting from my end. Between the call with the folks, catching up with FNS, and trying to follow the thread--I miss everything. I can't even use church as an excuse because I go to 5:30 Mass on Sat. ;)

Certain people are truly liked, or even loved.
You're right - both Tony and Tim were loved by their colleagues. Why?
They weren't backstabbing, egocentric jerks.
They treated others with respect and they were both professional and competent.
People like this are not mourned or missed.

Were obama not given pass after pass from the drivers-by this race would not even be close.

I had dinner last week with friends who get their news from Good Morning America and the Today Show, and consider themselves well-informed. One woman, that I only knew slightly, commented that she was crazy about George Stephanoplous. (The conversation had been about how badly Tim Russert would be missed, and how much he was admired for his fairness, yadda yadda.) I know my jaw dropped and I had a moment when it felt like an out of body experience to hear a perfectly normal person extol over Steffi.
Then she started in on W, and I put my hand up like a crossing guard, and said “don’t go there. I love President Bush!.”

Were obama not given pass after pass from the drivers-by this race would not even be close. Aw, c'mon. He's going to save the planet, wipe out poverty, get the oceans to go down, get the lion to sit down with the lamb. Coming up: Obama's plan to save the universe. (Why stop with our little planet?).
That makes a lot better copy than some boring, pragmatic proposals from McCain.

Thanks, rodguy. Schwarzenegger continues to show his hand, and I think the McCain hand as well. Whilst complementing Carter, on Face the Nation, Arnie is once again tossing a bone to Dims that might crossover. Infuriating, then once again courting, Conservatives has become the obsession of the McCain/Schwarzenegger axis.
I'm really having a difficult time with my continued presence in the Pub party. McCain's selection of a running mate is now key to my membership in the GOP.

Tony Snow was the very best. The country, the media and most importantly his family suffered a terrible loss. Ironically because of how Tony lived his life, we now know how to celebrate life with an act of kindness, a smile and relentless optimism. Thank you Tony. We learned your lessons of life and will try to practice them each and everyday.

You gotta remember Maica, the education we all get on the net, especially here, is second to none. The big thing we learn is how to think!! The others are mind numbed into still believing the dbm. We know better.

You have a great sense of humor, especially in the middle of a hot arid country in a trailer park. I sure hope that AC is working. Thank you for counting our beans while serving our country.

They won't be happy until we all live in shacks and drive go carts powered by briggs and stratton. Only then we can all be “equal”.

I know, and I practically grieve for their lack of knowledge. I wish I could send a blast email every day of key points they know nothing about. But of course, they could listen to Rush etc instead of npr if they wanted to.

I travel extensively, fortunately, much of the country is still in common sense mode.
Once the average Joe is explained the facts of life in the political village we live in the choice becomes more than obvious. (Nothing drives home stupid better than $4.00 gas and "no" dems won't drill.) Talk radio/the Internet get the word out. We get the words started.

Juans son is a conservative? Think he can slap some sense into his dad? There used to be a joke about, "I'm going to hit you so hard your grandchildren will feel it." Maybe this has something to do with all those Britt Hume corrections to Juan on the Sunday morning show. Some of them must have reached through least one generation.
