I saw the triangle formation. I was coming out of a friends house in an exclusive neighborhood in Chandler when I looked up and saw a huge triangle of lights coming very slowly south from over the McDowells. The pictures that I have seen of the Phoenix lights match exactly what I saw then. The only problem is that I saw them in February of '97 and the Phoenix lights incident happened in March.
When I saw them, I stopped and was staring at them but my friend continued talking. As I watched (and I admit my first thought was UFO) the entire formation stopped.
My buddy noticed that I was looking at the sky and he looked up to see what I was watching. At that point, the light on (my) right started forward, made a 90 degree turn and crossed in front of the formation. My friend said "Oh those. We see them all the time" and began describing how he and his son had watched the same formation from his son's second floor bedroom window just before Christmas.
My mind was reeling but then I remembered that we were only a few miles from Falcon Field and that they were training German pilots on the Apache. We went back to our previous conversation. I am 100% convinced that the Phoenix lights were Apaches.
There’s at least 10,000 other witnesses who disagree.
Though one might need to compare times to be certain the same phenomena were being viewed.
The airline pilot flying his small private plane above the mile+ large craft asserted that he could have landed his airliner on the craft with plenty of room to spare.
