His attention wavered for a moment as his mind drifted off toward thoughts of a "black ho'" he'd just recently met; suddenly he awoke to the voice of another commissioner asking him about her. "Black ho, black ho?" he gasped; oh, no brother, she was "white".

No doubt the story would be corrupted by the ignorant newspaper people for the morning edition the next day.
