Barack W. Bush?
Primetime Politics ^ | July 10, 2008 | Victor Davis Hanson

Almost everyone is talking about Barack Obama’s flip-flops, as the Senate’s most liberal member steadily moves to the political center and disowns firebrands like Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Fr. Michael Pfleger.

But less noticed is that Obama is not just deflating John McCain’s efforts to hold him to his long liberal record, but also embracing much of the present agenda of an unpopular President Bush on a wide variety of fronts.

Take social issues. Obama is now a gun-rights advocate. Like Bush, he applauded the Supreme Court’s overturning of a Washington, D.C., ordinance banning the possession of handguns.

The senator, also like Bush, supports the death penalty. He recently objected to the court’s rejection of a state law that allowed for the execution of child rapists.

The liberals are not happy seeing their dream candidate morph into the man they hate!

This author appears to be saying that Husseins run to the center has no effect on his popularity with the voters. How insane is that? On the one hand we read daily of the unhappiness of the lefty’s with his becoming “just another pol” but yet we also hear how ‘brilliant he is” as if he can do anyhting he chooses and no one will remember in Nov.

How great is this guy doing if he is not beating McCain in NJ and is so close in any national polls that have a decent reputation for legitimacy? It seems McCain makes a statement and it is dissected for 5 days and anyhting Hussein says which can be construed to be controversial is glossed over and forgotten in 1.

Like I said before, Hussein is 100% a creation of the media.

Hanson nails it again!

This article is good enough that McLame should use it as a speech, and spread this word.

The liberals believe, as do most of us, that Obama's moderate gambits are not serious, that his "move to the middle" is just boob bait for the muddled yahoos who are apt to vote for whomever sings the prettiest song.

This reminds me of 1992. I talked myself hoarse trying to tell people that BillyJeff wasn't serious about his three signature issues in that campaign: a middle class tax cuts, "ending welfare as we know it," and balancing the budget. All were Republican themes, and all served to peel away soft Republican voters who were frustrated with Mr. Read My Lips.

BillyJeff was elected. The middle class tax cut turned into a massive tax increase. "Ending welfare as we know it" turned into an expansion of the Earned Income Tax Credit (which the Clintonites also scored as a tax cut). And Clinton dropped entirely any attempt to balance the budget; he never proposed a balanced budget nor a glide path towards one. Welfare reform and a balanced budget were of course driven by Gingrich and Armey in '95-96, with Clinton as the main opponent, and after they were done Clinton took credit, but that's another story.

What Clinton demonstrated is that Democrat voters are now essentially tribal. Issues don't matter as long as a couple of big identity politics taboos are observed. The Democrats are motivated two things: the promise of payoffs and, probably even more, resentment of a scapegoated opponent. Obama can reverse himself as many times as he wants; most dems won't care.

what the....

... and he says he’s not a politician. Good Grief. This article just proves it. At least McCain sticks to what he says. That poor bus that Obama keeps tossing people under has to had a couple flat tires. Atleast.

Obama, campaigning on an idea of CHANGE is proving to be one of the most brazenly arrogant politicians cynically and shamelessly saying anything to get elect. Some change...

Here's a great You Tube link.

Change that works for him!

It's about time someone put together all the words this hypocrite and his cadre of followers have said regarding Iraq.

"There appears to be no issue that Barack Obama is not willing to reverse himself on for the sake of political expedience. This is the change he promised. This reality of his so called change, shows him to be a typical lying liberal politician."

"You can be sure there will never be any clear answers from Obama on any critical issue. He is quite comfortable taking positions that contradict each other. Sadly, his inconsistent and dishonest positions are perfectly acceptable to his Obamabot cult members, who blindly follow him."

Instead of the change candidate, Hussein ObamaMessiaHamas, will be known as the Ooops Uh Flip-Flop Candidate, who couldn't tell the truth!

Quit your whining about my Flip Flops, Waffling and Lies, you Bitter God Loving, Gun owning White Racist Patriots!

Damn Pajama Media. They won’t let me get by with my lies and flip flopping!

I would say that it is because you are conservative and have a brain, unlike most liberals, Oprah viewers, “undecideds”, and those who couldn’t even name one senator from their state.

It’s actually not that insane. Rush was making the argument the other day that all this flip flopping doesn’t make its way into the general because by the time the majority of the public pays attention, all they’ll know of Obama are his new positions. The flip flop thing won’t work as well as it did on Kerry.

Here’s Rush’s argument: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_070708/content/01125106.guest.html

It does make sense.

And I agree with you completely on the fact that he is a creation of the media. Question is if he can ride that into the White House.

Hussein is 100% a creation of the media.

Oh, yeah. Even more so than Clinton, who was nearly a perfect example of the phenomenon. What disturbs me the most is that the MSM's clear preference for both men seems less linked to ideology (both men are chameleons and Obama is only now being called on it by the left fringe) than it is to the pure ability to exert power by creating and promoting a candidate. The MSM is, by definition, unaccountable for the results. Nice work if you can get it, because it confers both fame and fortune.

A good part of the near unanimous disdain expressed toward Bush in the MSM is that he proved them incapable of doing this in two national elections. One might as well try to take drugs from a junkie.

LOl, how can they only be aware of his “new” positions? He has changed on Iraq more then once, so which latest position is the only one they know? Besides when the hear his latest position and think it’s his first, what do they think of his “explaining” his position 3 or four times when he is questioned about the 1st latest position?

I like Rush but don’t believe he has thought this one through and also don’t think he is reading the greater majority of people in the country.
