Must be. Call a gunsmith that works on lots of handguns and ask them about blowback and bullet shaving.

"... Freepers already know these things so I’m preaching to the choir."

We now need to move past the preaching and recognize that no term we come up with intended to make firearms less terrifying to the average metrosexual will ever help.

"Self-loading" -- (Oh my GOD! It loads itself!)
"Sidearm" -- (Oh my GOD! Now they're carrying it around in a holster like the Old West!)
"Self-defense" -- (Oh my GOD! How selfish!)
"Concealed carry" -- (Oh my GOD! Just like that hitman I saw on CSI:Miami last night!)
"Autoloader" -- (Oh my GOD! Those are the ones where you file down the firing pin and it goes like a machine gun!)

A well reasoned and rational argument will never beat out Andrew Sorkin's fictional and sensationalist crime dramas on the teevee. The only thing that works is taking someone who fears guns out shooting.

I would never surrender my Red 9 Broomhandle. It’s just too cool. With the stock, it even makes a nice little carbine.

No. I think that the argument that we should vote for McCain just because we need a Republican nominating judges is either delusional or plain STUPID.

I agree that they are reliable as far as “going off” but that doesn't mean accurate.

not everyone shoots their revolvers at 100yards. 4" groups at 7 yards is all i need out of a self defense revolver.

Not everyone that buys a handgun wants to worry about blowback and bullet shaving.

When it comes to firearms, yes, they are total idiots. They are responsible for so much ignorance and misinformation it’s incredible.

Yes, and voting for President Obama is just so... smart.

Oh, I know, you’re just not going to vote. Yippee for you. Maybe we can survive President Obama, but the country will be very different by then. Nationalized medicine! Yay! High taxes! Yay! Terror attacks! Yay! Killing fields in Iraq! Yay!

I wonder what things President Obama will give up in the negotiations with Al Queda? Islam taught in American schools? It’ll keep them safe, right? They’ll drive him around like a rented mule while President Obama goes on TV and begs them not to attack us anymore. I wonder what else they’ll want?

It’s been my experience (40 years) that it happens to one cylinder not all six.

No magazine, no safety, long hard trigger pull.

I prefer my semi-auto Glock 22, more rounds and easier to reload in case my first 15 shots missed.
Regardless, if I am going to a gun fight and I know it, I am taking my HK-91.

The bad thing about revolvers is that most of them you see that are out of time came thet way from the factory.

When you buy one you are stuck with it unless the factory will make it right. Few gun stores will exchange a gun once it has left the store. So if you get a bad one you are left with the option of shipping it back to the factory and hoping they will correct it.

I have seen many top of the line Smiths and Rugers that were brand new and out of time.

It’s been the law in Pennsylvania for many decades: no semiautomatic pistol, rifle, or shotgun may be used while hunting. Only revolvers may be carried in the field.

It is therefore indeed possible to ban a class of firearms based upon functionality.

Me, I recently went from a M1911A1 to a Smith & Wesson M1917 in the same .45 ACP. Getting the job done with six instead of seven seems to be the only difference. Plus the utter certainty of something going down range when I pull the trigger of that huge chunk of wheelgun.

“It’s been my experience (40 years) that it happens to one cylinder not all six.”

I have seen it in all six, but the point is that a semi-auto will never come with a cyl out of time.

There is just no way that a revolver is more accurate than a semi-auto of equal quality.

"I see this as the DC politicians trying to stick their finger in Scalia’s eye, even if they know such a law won’t last. For them, it’s personal."

Good! Then any resident of DC can sue them personally for conspiring to violate their civil rights.
