But this guy was family, did they not know? Did the parents of this poor child allow her to associate, unsupervised, with man they knew went to prison for a previous molestation or rape of another relative? If so, they are to blame too.

Lord knows a lot of people have been disgraced by a relative, but had I a relative who went to prison for that, no way he would be near my child alone!! Unsupervised.

My guess (only a guess) is that the family sheltered the girl by not telling her about an uncle that was not part of their lives anyway.
