There’s no doubt his mother was a citizen .....so does it even matter where he was born?

Yes, it is not that simple, if he was born in Kenya to an American woman and a Kenyan man he is not a native born citizen. The Constitution says only native born citizens may serve as President, this is why the Terminator cannot run for the office.

Thanks!

You’d think they’d release the actual certificate if there isn’t a problem.

Unless there is an attorney on this thread who can correct my reading of 8 USC § 1401, I believe that he would be a natural born citizen even if he were born in Kenya.

I'm still wondering why some seem to think he may have been born in Kenya, though.

I thought the term was “natural” born citizen, which would be different than “native” born citizen. And either way, it would not apply to Arnold Schwartenegger, since neither of his parents were U.S. citizens, he wasn’t born in the U.S., his parents haven’t lived in the U.S. This Obama thing would have no effect on Schwartzenegger.
