It is a sad fact but true that events in combat change people, often for the worse. It has always been thus. I have guys in nursing homes still having anxiety and nightmares from WW II and Korea.

I find these drama queens in the "helping professions" to be annoying and self-serving, however. There is nothing exotic about treating PTSD. Back in the day, when I and others were trying to do a job, we used to call these groupies "trauma hunters."

And as for the Post, where were they after WWII and Korea anyway? It isn't as if combat trauma was not known and recognized. But I guess there wasn't any political hay to be made off the veterans back then, either by making them into crazed Rambo's or pathetic victims.
