I think we should be sympathetic because we have all done profoundly stupid things in our lifetimes, and outside the grace of God we would be just as dead. Also, these are teen boys, the most notorious dumb-thing-doers. I would feel sympathetic if someone was killed due to actions beyond their control. If the roller coaster came flying off the tracks and landed on this young man, I would feel completely different. I cannot, however, feel sympathy for ignorance, fatal or not.
