My definition of compassion:

1. A deep awareness of and sympathy for another's suffering.

2. The humane quality of understanding the suffering of others and wanting to do something about it.

Can you provide your definition?

My definition is "actions that provide actual help to end the condition of suffering" not just generating a mushy feeling of desire to help that accomplishes nothing or worse encourages more of the ignorance that created the suffering in the first place.

Here is a good definition of your version of compassion.

Your ability to relate my definition of compassion to a belief that a criminal guilty of crimes against innocent citizens should be allowed to go free, the belief that terrorists have rights, disallowing evidence against criminals, and the idea that the innocent unborn can be slaughtered is beyond comprehension. You could not be further from the truth, all compassion for ones fellow man is not ‘idiot’ compassion.

I, as a caring human, can feel sympathy for the parents, and loved ones of a 17-year-old boy, and abstain from posting stupid comments in a forum without believing it is compassionate to kill the innocent unborn.

Is it really that difficult to understand?
