Here in the People's Republic of New York, the Politburo put an additional $1.75 tax on cigarettes at the beginning of this month. $5 one day, $6.75 the next. You would think that would make enough of an impression on people to do something. You would think. So here's my wife who makes her own with an injector (thanks to a great post that appeared in these parts a few years back) talking to coworkers last week about the high prices and telling them how she makes her own and it's lot less money plus they don't have all the garbage in them that premade cigarettes have. Do I need to finish the story? Yup, they all said, "Oh, that's too much work. I can't be bothered doing all that!"
So despite an enormous tax increase that upset these people and the offer of a solution to counteract it, they don't want do anything about it. Complain? Sure. Do anything? No. Pathetic. Utterly, utterly pathetic. And you know it's the same pathetic attitude they have about oil prices.
