She sounded like a wonderful person and we enjoyed her posts. Rest in peace Darlene.
Condolences to Darlene Brennan’s family.
Grant Darlene eternal rest to her soul oh Lord. Amen
Just bumping this up.
I just learned of SheLion’s passing. I only knew her through her posts, but from those posts I could tell she was one terrific gal. May she rest in eternal peace. She’ll be sorely missed in this life.
Somehow I stumbled across this thread looking for something completely different. Can’t believe I missed this.
I wondered why I hadn’t seen SheLion post lately. I always enjoyed her “give ‘em hell” attitude when it came to Nanny Staters. A few years back I told her I was finally quitting smoking. She told me that was great since it was a personal preference, but I better not turn into an “anti-smoking Nazi”! (I didn’t)
She will be missed :)
Rest in peace She Lion, may G-d comfort your friends and family with His blessed Holy Spirit.
I had no idea. She is the one who turned me on to roll your own cigs.
God rest her soul and may He be with her family.
Just Dang!
As did I. I’m much sadder for myself now, however, it does remind me of something I heard on the radio just this afternoon.
Someone called in to the Dave Ramsey show, and asked about someone Dave had written about who had brain cancer. The caller said that he was inspired by the story, and wanted to know the condition of the man. Dave told the caller that the man with cancer was better now, that he was with The Lord.
As is, I’m sure, SheLion.

Wow, this is kind of bizarre. I did a google search for my own name and many links to my mother, Darlene Brennan (SheLion) came up. She always told me about her posts, etc and about Free Republic, but I never thought to do a search before.
I realize this thread is 2 yrs old. And it’s so very odd that Ive been thinking about my parents this week and then I stumble across this :) I read all the post and through tears and some laughter (at memories), I am honored to have read all your shared thoughts on my mother.
I am saddened to say I was not able to be with her when she passed and that is forever my cross to bear. She refused to move closer to me after Dad died in ‘03 (to answer another post, no she never did remarry).
My husband was diagnosed with ALS/Lou Gehrigs disease in the Air Force and was medically retired after almost 20 yrs in (2006). He has been powerchair/wheelchair bound for 3.5 yrs now and is almost a parapalegic. I am his sole caregiver. When mom got sick, it was sudden and she was only in the hospital 3 days before she passed. In that amount of time, there was no way any of Lee’s (husband) family could come from Baltimore to here in Alabama to watch Lee while I went home to Maine. So I have a lot of guilt there.
She had stage 4 skin cancer and COPD to answer the inquiries as to what caused her illness/death. I know she quietly suffered for months before her final hospital stay. Because of all I go through with Lee, she never was honest with me about her health either.
I know you all meant the world to her. And she kinda lives through in my husband (HUGE anti-progressives and anit socialism he is!! Very vocal about that! LOL)
And these past 2 yrs in this country, she would have been SCREAMING over what Obama is doing to this country...........but I digress! :)
Thank you all for the awesome, kind words. Although stumbled across 2.5 yrs later, I can not tell you how much they mean to me! Love to all!
If anyone is on Facebook, look me up :) I am under

You must realize how many people here on FR loved your mother and her feisty take on life.
I'm really sorry to hear of your present troubles. Keep your chin up and keep punching, I know that 's what SheLion would want.
Your post has brought back many memories, mostly good and I'm now typing through tears.
Love to you and yours,
metesky
