Checking in.
Wasn't a very restful night last night. I haven't felt this tense since the night they told us we'd be deploying to Iraq in support of Operation Desert Storm.

I did not want to say anything about this until now...but I met Chief Justice Roberts about two weeks ago at a sporting event. We spoke about the game and finally, I could not stop myself, and said: "A lot of conservatives like me are really REALLY looking forward to your Second Amendment decision this month." So as to not make him feel uncomfortable, I did not look at him directly when I said that. My friend--who was looking at him--said that he smiled.
He was the nicest guy you could meet. Just a plain-spoken Indiana boy. Here's hoping...

Applying Justice Kennedy’s “evolving standards” test, and Alito’s exposing that the “evolving standard” Kennedy saw was really a standard that was engineered by outside interference, it is clear that the DC gun ban will be upheld.
It has come so late in the term, that it will be controversial, so my take is that it will strike at the heart of the entire 2d amendment debate.
“Evolving standards” means liberalism, and Kennedy has fit nicely into Sanda Day’s girdle.

Well, I’ve been a long time lurker but I decided to finally come out of the shadows and post. Hopefully my first post will be in a thread that is an epic win for the constitution and the rights of American citizens.
HOPEFULLY!

What to Watch For in D.C. v. Heller

This is by far the pre-analysis of he case. It bears some study this morning.
I predict a 7-2 “win” that is a real disappointment.
I’d prefer a 5-4 that kicks some Constitutional a$$.

I’m hoping for something that affirms the 2nd as a fundamental human right, but right now I’m thinking the Supremes may just chicken out, rule extremely narrowly, and punt the issue for another year

The most recent rulings handed us from SCOTUS pretty much tell us just how politicized the Supremes are.
I was angry at the Kennedy wording in his majority statement yesterday regarding our Society. “evolving” “maturing society”. That really pissed me off as it was a reflection of the statements made a couple of years ago by Ginsburg and somebody else on the Left within the Supremes about how we must incorporate International laws into our own. “H” one can find many laws within ours based upon the laws of other lands, but the inference was we must begin to. I took it as a denigration of our Society. The most productive and Free Society in the World. “Maturing Society” possibly meant in his mind something else, but his choice of wording in describing our society was demeaning, and Euro-snobbish Liberalism IMO.
I for one am on pins and needles so-to-speak until this is resolved. I’m going to throw a “Liberal” (as in typical childish Liberal tantrum as often seen when they don’t get their way.) if the ruling is either against the 2nd Amendment right to possess, or if it doesn’t resolve the issue once and for all.

We have reason to believe this ruling will be both historic and positive, IMO.

For those of y’all who haven’t followed this stuff at SCOTUS blog before, the Court will start releasing it’s opinions right after 10:00. We should know if it’s a win or not a few minutes after. We should also know at that point whether it was an affirmation or reversal and who wrote the majority opinion.
We won’t know the details of the ruling until the lawyers can grab a copy, which will probably be posted 10:15-10:30.

So far the court has been a major disappointment. Will this be the biggest? Conservatives are taking it in the shorts this year big time.
