Surely he is equally both?

Obama has no black slave ancestors. His mother’s ancestors owned slaves. I do have black slave ancestors. So if Obama orders Reparations, will HE have to pay Reparations to ME? Mine was Rufus Hargrove, freed slave.
Because if he were to emphasize that he’s just as much a White guy, everyone would see him for the schmuck he really is.
