I’m not a fan of Einstein, or George Carlin for that matter.

Indeed. Coincidently, there seem to be a dearth of posters here these days who show little grasp or appreciation for either intellect or humor.

So I'll leave you pondering the "theodice problem" as stated by David Hume.

"If the evil in the world is intended by God then he is not good. If it violates his intentions then he is not almighty. God can't be both almighty and good. There are many objections to this, but none that holds since God is ultimately responsible for the existence of evil. Because, if only God can create he must have created evil. If somebody else (the devil) created evil, how can one know that God, and not Satan created the universe?"

If you don't know who David Hume was, look him up before you proclaim him to be a "godless liberal."

My four-year old son recently asked me, "Daddy, why did God make bad guys?".

Your snide remarks aside. We all can't be as enlightened as David Hume. Now can we? Frankly, I'm very satisfied being myself and speaking for myself in my own words.

Again, you miss the point. The issue of this thread focused on the death of a comedian named, George Carlin. A comedian that many of us enjoyed years ago when his subject matter wasn't so personally inflammatory to reasonable folks. In his later years, a comedian many of us took exception to for his public antics that belittled God, while attacking the faith of Christian's and slamming not only Judeo-Christian values, but traditional American values, with what can only be termed, a personal vendetta based on a lifetime of cynical bitterness towards life.

Since you seem to hold Albert Einstein in high regard, you might find the following enlightening.

"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weakness, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this. These subtilised interpretations are highly manifold according to their nature and have almost nothing to do with the original text. For me the Jewish religion like all others is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people. As far as my experience goes, they are also no better than other human groups, although they are protected from the worst cancers by a lack of power. Otherwise I cannot see anything chosen about them."

~~~ Letter Einstein wrote to Eric Gutkind: January.3, 1954
One more thing.
I’ll take the slapstick comedy of the Three Stooges, Laurel and Hardy and Abbott and Costello over the counter-culture trashtalk-gutter garbage humor of George Carlin, Richard Pryor and Lenny Bruce -— 24-7-365.
