Obama on Osama: 'Don't make him a martyr'
Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama says if Osama bin Laden is captured alive, the United States should bring him to justice but in a way that avoids turning the al-Qaeda leader into a martyr.

Osama isn't a gaffe machine.
Osama isn't running for the presidency.
We know where Osama's money comes from.
That is a paraphrase, not a quote.
There are more damning quotes in his books and on his tapes.
Hitler was a “martyr” too. He died by his own hand.
I guess we “didn’t really win” because he “cheated” us out of a moment of triumph. < /half sarc >
Quote from Barack Obama’s book, Dreams Of My Father:
“The person who made me proudest of all, though, was [half brother] Roy .. He converted to Islam.”
From ‘Dreams of my Father’, “In Indonesia, I had spent two years at a Muslim school”
“I studied the Koran..”
From ‘Audacity of Hope: “Lolo (Obama’s step father) followed a brand of Islam ....”I looked to Lolo for guidance”.
From ‘The Audacity Of Hope, “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
From The Audacity Of Hope, “We are no longer just a Christian nation,” “We are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers.”

Should not be in quotes. The statement, as you present it, is incorrect and paraphrases the real quote.
Patriot08 used the same quote in post 26.
Please provide us the correct quote.
Google Web Results 1 - 10 of about 2,760 for:
I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction..
Shows you how a misquote can spread throughout the Net.
The correct quote is:
In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
At the battle of Lepanto, the soldiers of the Christian alliance beheaded the Muslim commander, Ali Pasha, and put his head on a pike. The display crushed the morale of the Muslim warriors.
Democrats are cowards of the worst kind.
Is he quoting somebody in a story or narrative, or is he expressing his own thoughts?
How much text appears between an entry’s first and second quote (the text that presumably fits into the elipses “...”)?
I’m a little suspicious as to how these are presented.
There is plenty of dirt on him. I simply do not wish to promote misinformation or to engage in deceptive BS. One loses credibility when exposed for that and it is not neccessary anyway. Cute, but it can backfire.
The answer is in your own post, Thank You!
You don’t see the difference between:
I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
and
“I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.
That’s fine.
Nah just his nuts in a pickle jar.
Heh I never say stuff like that but it was the first hting that popped into mind.
You were correct. Even after you corrected me I didn't see the differrce till later. (...multitasking at work.)
Same meaning, but my reference was not the proper quoted text.
