I”m really tired of the 7 years to late mantra i see around here. It implies its only Bush who made the problem. What about Clinton who veto’d drilling 10 years ago or the previous 25 years of policy. This notion that is 7 years to late. It 25+ years to late. We shoudl of started drilling the second Jimmah left office. Guess you don’t remember sitting in gas lines and odd even license plates.

I guess you weren't around in the 1970s. Gasoline shortages, lines, locking gas caps...
Remember the odd-even plan? If you had a license plate starting with an odd number, you could fill up your tank only on Monday/Wed/Fri. If you had an even number, you could fill up only on Tues/Thurs/Sat. Sunday was a free day. I don't know how they enforced this, but it was the law here in California during those days when gasoline was scarce.
I remember we had to park our car on the street in a long line the night before in order to get gas the next morning when the station opened. It was the only gas station near us that actually had gas! It was pretty scary there for a while.

We just took a motorhome trip and passed through some of those areas in Colorado and Utah. We saw a LOT of new drilling rigs and lots of oil trucks passing us on the road.
Also the price of gas is at least 50 cents a gallon more expensive in California than any of the other states we passed through.
And, It is going to be very interesting to see how the Dems spin this one... especially Al Gore... who seems to be very good at energy usage.

Can the President make an exectuive order to allow drilling for oil in ANWR and offshore? Is it legal for him to issue such an order? If it is legal then he should go ahead and do it today.

I recently watched some DVD’s of the TV series Dallas. In the special features, they explain the show’s wild, overnight success showing footage of the Carter years...Americans were hungry for wealth, success and glamour—and an escape from those years of doom and gloom!

Geeesh it was awful, wasn’t it? Odd, even and it was An Event. First, your WEEK was scheduled around what days, and sometimes even how MUCH you were allowed to purchase. What time would be best? Get up at 5 in the morning, or stay up late til almost midnight...
I was still a tad naive but my husband was very savvy and explained why Jimmy Carter was The Worst President Ever.

She’s really something, isn’t she? Here’s what’s changed in our country. When I was a young woman, Democrats were political opponents - now they’re the ENEMY.

A sentence in the Fox news item says that SOME Americans support the drilling of offshore.
I believe that I have read that over 65% support the drilling of offshore, ANWR, and shale digging.
Am I right or wrong? That's a great number over “some.”

Those stations are for all you out-of-towners who drive motorhomes...those of us who live in CA get our gas at the cheaper stations that you guys don’t know about. BIG SMILE
But thanks for spending your vacation dollars here.
Ya’ll come back....ya hear! LOL

This morning on FOX they quoted a poll saying 73% are in favor of drilling- with the caveat that it be done “responsibly”...

This is how leviathan government works. Waste trillions of dollars and decades of time, get 90% of the citizenry so pissed they could eat nails, and then start to talk about step #1 of 3,575.

"A new Rasmussen Reports telephone surveyconducted before McCain announced his intentions on the issue--finds that 67% of voters believe that drilling should be allowed off the coasts of California, Florida and other states. Only 18% disagree and 15% are undecided. Conservative and moderate voters strongly support this approach, while liberals are more evenly divided
(46% of liberals favor drilling, 37% oppose)."

Does Obama also think we shouldn’t save for retirement because it will have no immediate effect? That attitude is completely irresponsible.

I remember that living in Colorado. Chevron had already embarked on building oil shale recovery systems on the Western Slope of the Colorado Rockies. They pulled the plug when prices dropped.
Half the morons in DC were too young to remember the Carter Years; and most of those who do remember, are trying to destroy the country.
My brother got so pissed off waiting in "the Carter lines," that when it was all over, he put in a 1,000 gallon subterranian oil tank behind his house.

Obama has said that if all the money spent in Iraq for the past five years was instead put to research on increasing fuel efficiency, we would be driving vehicles that get 40mpg!
He is delusional!!!!!

I caught a good part of President Bush’s speech. Other than parts being politically correct when talking about the environment, he was right on point. Excellent speech.
Drill Here, Drill Now, Drill often, and add nuclear power along with clean coal so that we can decrease our imports of oil from Canada, Mexico and yes Saudi Arabia.
