I’ll tell you what happened, Krauthammer is a genius. Conservativism is correct, put in the hands of a Krauthammer or a George Will even Alan Dershowitz would look bad. Dershowitz is too smart to be against the war though.

Dershowitz is a very skilled debater, unfortunately. Still, I tend to agree with you - he would likely lose to Charles on this particular subject.

In 1980, PBS held a series of debates between the advisers of the 3 presidnetial candidates (Carter, Reagan, Anderson). The candidates themselves were not invited. Each debate was centered around one subject only, and the advisers dedicated to that one subject appeared for the candidate.

It was by far the best and most educational series of debates on the issues because they were genune debates, not joint press conferences.

My favorite memory was the debate on economic issues where Arthur Laffer from the Reagan campaign eviscerated Mitch Rogovin from the Anderson campaign.

We need more of this.

I meant if he were to participate in that debate - playing devil's advocate if you will - he still would likely lose in spite of his skills. In comparison to Dershowitz, S. Power has no skills at all. And, compared or not, her ideas are worthy of a political dinosaur.

Win or lose, the SCOTUS ruling today will be an albatross around the neck of Obama and the Dems. As the smoke clears and it becomes clear what the consequences of giving key documents to unlawful combatant lawyers, of divulging military operations in an open court, in the media and protester circus that will surround trials, to the potential (seems to me there is no way around it) of forcing military personnel to testify in a trial for every combatant captured etc. the public will become wise to the foolishness of this ruling.
