Yes, fatal. It wasn’t a cancerous tumor—fortunately for this girl’s future—but it would have killed her before a natural or inducted birth would have been possible.
The tumor was evidently sucking up most of the nourishment meant for the baby’s growth. From the sound of it, I imagine it must have been almost as big as the baby when it was removed.
