If I were the GOP Presidential candidate...I would propose:

-open all of America for drilling and strongarm Congress to go along with it or face my wrath

-this would create jobs AND solve the energy crisis at the same time

I would open everything up to drilling and build coal and nuclear power plants in every state. I would also give grants to scientists and engineers to make hydrogen viable. In the interim, we can switch our fleet to electric and biodiesel made from algae.

We would have a two or three step transition to energy independence.

I don't think we can afford to exist purely on oil long term. It's time to start thinking about what comes next and to start working towards it. We should have started in 1975.
