Why do you put the word terrorism in quotes?

Because it's the most overused booogeyman phrase of this decade, and its overuse takes away from the seriousness that real terrorism actually is. When the government started the whole "if you buy marijuana you are supporting terrorism" I decided to tune out any terrorism argument. My chances of being killed by a terrorist are tiny and if I do, well, I'm OK with Jesus, so be it.

“Because it’s the most overused booogeyman phrase of this decade”

No, not a boogyman at all. That’s especially clear in a post 9/11 world. Especially in regards to this election. Iran, the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism, who’s publicly stated goal is America’s destruction, has already stated their plan is to ‘fill the void’, should we leave Iraq. And al-Qaeda intends on using Iraq as the center of their caliphate to launch more terror attacks on America. Obama wants to appease these enemies, McCain wants to continue to fight these enemies.
