Dave, I look at Herbert Hoover (McCain). He was no conservative like Harding/Coolidge. He was a miniFDR. But the damage he did to Republicans went far, far beyond just losing the presidency. We were slipping into a depression anyway, and while I think the right policies could have greatly minimized the economic damage nationally. At any rate, the result was that all Republicans were tarred with the “Great Depression” for 40 years. I’m afraid Herbert Hoover McCain will do that to us-—while the alternative is that Obama might be Hoover for the Dems. He WILL have the wrong policies, but because we aren’t quite in crisis yet, he will get the blame with the floor drops out.
