FOX News released this segment of the interview on Special Report with Brit Hume: video link
Ali Abunimah is the co-founder of the online Pro-Palestinian publication The Electronic Intifada and the author of One Country: A Bold Proposal to End the Israeli-Palestinian Impasse.
Here is part of the transcript from the interview with Democracy Now from January:
AMY GOODMAN: Ali Abunimah, I wanted to ask you about the candidates in the United States. Youre speaking to us from Chicago, so lets start with Barack Obama. The stances of the presidential Democratic and Republican candidates on the Israel-Palestine conflict. I cant remember when in a debate they were asked about the mounting crisis there.
ALI ABUNIMAH: I dont know if theyve been asked in a debate, but whenever they have been asked, they have all gone out of their way to express full support for what Israel is doing. Barack Obama is not distinguished from the rest of the pack, except by for how far he has moved to try to appease AIPAC and pro-Israel movements.
I remember, AmyI knew Barack Obama for many years as my state senatorwhen he used to attend events in the Palestinian community in Chicago all the time.
I remember personally introducing him onstage in 1999, when we had a major community fundraiser for the community center in Deheisha refugee camp in the occupied West Bank. And thats just one example of how Barack Obama used to be very comfortable speaking up for and being associated with Palestinian rights and opposing the Israeli occupation. And just yesterday, he apparently sent a letter to Zalmay Khalilzad, the US ambassador at the UN, to urge the US not to allow any resolution to pass criticizing Israel and saying how Israel was forced to impose this barbaric medieval siege on Israel.
None of the other candidates in the mainstream have spoken out for Palestinian rights. The only ones who have taken forceful positions opposing the current US strategy are Dennis Kucinich on the Democratic side and Ron Paul on the Republican side. The mainstream are all perfectly comfortable with the war crimes that Israel is committing, no matter how much they talk about human rights elsewhere.
Barack and Michelle Obama and Professor Edward Said at a May 1998 Arab community event in Chicago at which Edward Said gave the keynote speech. (Bill Baars West Side)
The Electronic Intifada reported earlier on how Obama suddenly learned to love Israel.
More Shocker!! Obama took the endorsement of the Pro-PLO Socialist Party.

Let the games begin...
Sorry. I ain’t shocked.
Brit and Carl Cameron played it on Special Report tonight.
The stealth Mecca Candidate, Osama Obama is being exposed. He can run, but he can’t hide.
Well duh...that’s what you just posted!
OMG!
We have us a real live terrorist supporter running for president!
Juan McCain better bet his supporters in line soon!
Hehh...I noticed that too.
So?
It appears dems don’t care that he is an anti-white, andt-Semitic, anti-American bigot.
The question is whether the rest of America will care either.
at one point, Hillary was talking pro palestinenan. oh, yeah, nobody cares.
at one point, Hillary was talking pro palestinenan. oh, yeah, nobody cares.
This guy is a disgrace to America. Blacks and the rest of the country should be sad and disgusted that he is the first black American to run for president.
So tell us Senator, when did you stop supporting radical Muslim causes?
So tell us Senator, why, when Palestinian terrorists were blowing up Israeli children with bombs, why did you speak out in favor of them?
So tell us Senator, since Saddam Husein gave $25,000 to every suicide/murder bomber's family, did you oppose the war in Iraq because it helped cut off funding to Palestinian terrorists?
Obama will get 35% of the vote for simply breathing.
They will if the vile, disgraceful media in this country just report the damn truth. Oh, did I tell you I hate the MSM with every fiber of my being? Yes, even worse than the Clinton’s.
I saw that too. Pretty eye opening stuff. Question is, will it get the play it deserves?
Been here 22+ years, never heard of Juan McStain placing a bet on anything.......
:)
May I please remind you that Obama is half-black and half-white. He is not black.
I hope so...
