OBAMA-PFLEGER TIE RUNS DEEP

May 30, 2008

Catholic League president Bill Donohue comments on Rev. Michael Pfleger’s remarks at Sen. Barack Obama’s church that led the Catholic priest to apologize and the Democratic hopeful to renounce them:

“Most commentators are already focusing on the inappropriateness of the race-baiting comments by Father Pfleger. More serious is the venue in which he delivered his diatribe and his long-standing ties to Sen. Obama.

“Father Pfleger’s tirade would be inexcusable anywhere, but it is even more offensive when it happens in a church. It does not matter that it was not his own, nor does it matter that it happened in a church that has a record of allowing demagogues to exploit it. When churches become forums for political rallies, both religion and the First Amendment are corrupted.

“Obama and Pfleger are no strangers. Indeed, when Obama was in the state senate in Illinois, he conveniently arranged for Father Pfleger’s St. Sabina’s Church to receive state monies for its social programs. Of course, the guardians of church and state separation said nothing then and they are saying nothing now. That’s because they’re all in the tank for Obama. Just as important, why is it that of all the wonderful Catholic priests in the Chicago Archdiocese, Obama long ago chose Pfleger to hang with? Truth be known, Pfleger has a very troubling history: he has welcomed the anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan to preach in his church; he has hired prostitutes to worship there; he has been arrested for defacing billboards; and he once urged the crowd at an anti-gun rally to hunt down a gun store owner ‘like a rat’ and ‘snuff’ him.

“Senator Obama says he wants to bring people together. Then why does he choose as his clerical friends people like Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Father Pfleger? They are two peas in a pod, both equally divisive, separated only by the color of their skin.”

If he cannot do better selecting spritual advisors, his selection of judges scares the hell out of me.

Rush thinks that Father Pfleger’s rant was planned to give Barry an opportunity to quit the church...due to a “white” priest. However, Rush says—Obama IS that church. Many very angry Dems calling in today saying that they do not know or trust Barry.

Unreal. Did Rome have anything to say about this so-called “Catholic priest?”

I was hoping Bill Donohue would comment on what the heck is a priest like this doing under the umbrella of the Catholic church?

I suspect he’s dreadful at picking spiritual advisors because he doesn’t have any faith. He says he does, but how can you be a Christian and believe the things he does?

To Mr. Obama, like many ultra-liberals, everything is open for consideration.

Judicial appointments? God save us.

Firing, known as dismissal from the clerical state in Canon Law, a priest is like firing a teacher with tenure.

"They are two peas in a pod, both equally divisive, separated only by the color of their skin.” "

And Obama falls comfortably between them.

Rome does not micromanage the Church. Bishops have a lot of autonomy. And not much testosterone.

I agree. He was pushing himself as being devoted to his church to get past the Hussein issue. Now since the Hussein issue has past, he's trying to distance himself from his church.

He was trying to USE Christianity to help himself get elected. Now he's distancing himself from his version of Christianity. To me, this is the definition of a HYPOCRITE.

I don’t know, his gun shop comments would have done it for me. There’s no question in my mind what he was advocating. My bold.

We're going to snuff out John Riggio [gun store owner]

We're going to snuff out legislators that are voting against our gun laws.
Fr. Michael Pfleger

Fortunately no one took him up on it. He later explained he didn't know that snuff out was slang for kill. I believe that, the Father wouldn't lie. And Barry never heard a word of what was going on in Church, he was deep in thought while his co-religionists were whooping it up in support of Rev Wright, and Fr. Pfleger.

ISRA: Chicago Priest Calls for Murder of Gun Shop Owner

SPRINGFIELD, Ill., May 29 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following was released today by the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA):

Nobody expected Saturday's Operation PUSH protest at Chuck's Gun Shop & Range to be anything other than a circus of the bizarre. However, nobody anticipated that an address by a Chicago priest would include a call for the murder of a suburban gun shop owner and legislators who oppose gun control.

During an address at an anti-gun rally in front of Chuck's, Rev. Michael Pfleger, pastor of St. Sabina's Church, exhorted the crowd to "drag" shop owner, John Riggio, from his shop "like a rat" and "snuff" him.

Rev. Pfleger went on to tell the crowd that legislators that vote against gun control legislation should be "snuffed" as well. As many know, "snuff" is slang for especially violent murder.

The ISRA has a recording of Pfleger's remarks in MP3 format.

"Certainly Fr. Pfleger has offered Absolution to a murderer or two during his tenure as a priest," commented ISRA Executive Director, Richard Pearson. "That's why it's shocking to hear him actually advocate the murder of a gun shop owner who has never committed a crime in his life. He then compounds the problem by calling for the murder of legislators who disagree with his personal political views -- something I suspect is a felony in this state. Pfleger's comments were disgusting and dangerous. And, I seem to remember that the Fifth Commandment frowns on murdering one's neighbor."

"This week, I'll be penning a letter to the Archbishop, expressing my concerns over Rev. Pfleger's comments," continued Pearson. "I would hope that the Archbishop would reply with words of comfort for Mr. Riggio, his family, state legislators, and all others who were injured by Rev. Pfleger's thoughtless, inflammatory remarks."

The ISRA is the state's leading advocate of safe, lawful, and responsible firearms ownership. Since 1903, the ISRA has represented the interests of over 1.5 million law-abiding firearm Illinois firearm owners.

Pfleger, Obama, and Jeremiah Wright are all phony Christians. It is easy to detect the wolves inside the sheep's clothing here. To whit, Pfleger claims that "the greatist sin is racism". Any real Christian knows that the greatest sin is pride. That's Christianity 101.

These gentlemen are communists hiding behind a facade of religiosity. Their true faith is in a political cult. They are Judas incarnate.

Obama has known Pfleger for 20 years and invited him to Iowa to campaign.

The media has tried to play this off as the words of a visitor to the church. He’s Obama’s LONG LONG time pal and associate.

FAIL
