Likely Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has resigned from his controversial church, Trinity United Church of Christ.
We dont want to have to answer for everything thats stated in that church, Obama told reporters in Aberdeen, South Dakota during a rare Saturday night press conference.
Obamas church came under intense scrutiny after videotapes were discovered of Obamas longtime friend and former pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright making anti-American and racist statements in sermons earlier this spring. Obamas initial reaction was to defend Wright, until Wright engaged on a media tour and reiterated many of his most offensive remarks.
Questions about the church were renewed last Sunday when another one of Obamas Chicago friends, Father Michael Pfleger, made racist statements pointed at Obamas Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
"Rev. Moss, when Hillary was crying, and people said that was put on, I really don't believe it was put on," Pfleger said, recalling Clintons tearful press conference during the New Hampshire primary. "I really believe that she just always thought, 'This is mine! I'm Bill's wife, I'm white, and this is mine! I just gotta get up and step into the plate.' And then out of nowhere came, 'Hey, I'm Barack Obama,' and she said, 'Oh, damn! Where did you come from? I'm white! I'm entitled! There's a black man stealing my show!
Obama expressed regret at having to leave his church of over 20 years. I did not anticipate my fairly conventional Christian faith being subject to such challenge and such scrutiny, he said in South Dakota.
Obama noted his resignation should not be interpreted as a denouncement of the church. Its not a church worthy of denouncing, he said. Obama said his critics theyve seen caricatures of the church and accept those caricatures despite my insistence thats not what the church is about and theres not much I can do about it with a defeatist tone.
TUCC issued a statement that said: Though we are saddened by the news we understand this is a personal decision.
Obamas decision came shortly after a contentious meeting ended in Washington D.C. by the Democratic National Committee to determine how delegates from Michigan and Florida should be seated. Both states were punished by the DNC for moving up their primary dates and were thus stripped of their delegates.
The DNC decided Saturday to seat half of the delegates from Florida and Michigan and to specially allocate 69 of Michigans delegates to Clinton and 59 to Obama.
The compromise was fought intensely by Clintons surrogates who are unhappy with the outcome of the meeting. Clinton campaign strategist Harold Ickes said at the conclusion of the meeting that Clinton had asked him to reserve the right to challenge the compromise with the Democratic Credentials Committee. This tactic has been deemed the nuclear option by political analysts since it would likely extend the Democratic contest until the Democratic convention in Denver.
That fact will not change. And the Democrat Party will continue its struggle to damn and destroy America--whether its objective be overt or covert.
The damnation of America is what the Democrats mean by "change".
“That’s one of the things about the left that has amazed me over the years: the convolutions they will go through in order to convince themselves (and others) that something is ok...”
as in...”2 + 2” = 3 or 5
I don't think he noticed because he was in the front pew clapping and nodding along with the rest of them. He didn't notice because he thought it was okay.
I think the reason the white priest made a very radical, hate-filled speech is because he is white, which takes the pressure off the back preachers who started this.
America better be prepared; these are Barack Obama's friends, and if he is elected we can expect to see 4 years of these clowns grabbing camera attention whenever they can.
It will be like Billy Carter, Roger Clinton, Lindsey's Lohan's parents, the Williams sisters father, and every other clown relative combined on steriods filming a reality show. I look forward to "The Soup" starting to cover this, in between "Chat Stew" and "Clip of the Week."

He doesn't get it.
Yes, he said that. And he also said (quoted from another thread) ""It's clear that now that I am a candidate for president, every time something is said in the church by anyone associated with Trinity, including guest pastors, the remarks will be imputed to me, even if they totally conflict with my long-held views, statements and principles,". The real truth behind that statement lies in the first part; not the highlighted part.
In truth, his beliefs do not stray from that church's beliefs. But saying so for political expediency is indeed throwing that church (and Black Liberation Theology by extension) under the bus; just as it was when he broke with the Rev. Wright.
So do all black people in America think that all white people in America are privileged?
No. I don't believe that. But a good percentage do, I'm sure. Hustlers like rev. Wright, Farrakhan, Sharpton and Jackson have made use of Christianity to fill Blacks with the desire for revenge in today's World (whereas Christianity provides a belief in a better World to come). And many fall for it. Revenge is a deep-seeded human emotion. And once aroused it's hard to quell. Yet all these hucksters are sealing their own destruction (and that of their parishioners as well).
He comes across as an actor playing the part of a politician in a movie. What happens if he has to go off script?
They switch him over to fly-by-wire?
Logically, this does not make sense. He said he is leaving to "protect the church". Baloney.
Potemkin village people. Obama has no credibility.
“It makes his debate performances seem like just that, performances memorized from a script of preanswered questions.”
You are stating the obvious. I wonder how many in the “American Street” will recognize that?
B.O. (Body Odor) is starting to stink.
It is a safe guess that Hussein ObamaMessiaHamas’s focus groups and internal polls and the DNC’s show that Middle America will no longer tolerate Black Racism and Black Racist POS’s posing as ministers. Nor will they vote for a Black Racist, who hates America, Whites and real Christians and Jews.

There is no way that Hussein ObamaMessiaHamas would have left this anti America Black Racist POS phoney church if not for the internet, Sean, Rush, U Tube and other sources of the real news.
The next target of opportunity are the longtime Anti America black and white mentors/buddies of Hussein ObamaMessiaHamas’s past and present.
"Look, y'know I've got to put these white rednecks to sleep for awhile. I'll play Mr. Denzell Washington, act the hero, etc. Get them to come my way. But, my heart is with you and we can start talking reparations soon after the election. I may even put Michelle in charge of that. So just be cool, my brothers!"
“Obama Quits Trinity” Which one of the three was he?
“Notice that he quit after a WHITE, CATHOLIC priest took to the pulpit...”
I hate when a white guy takes on black affectations and talk. It’s so phony.
“OBAMA: He was my pastor, and he built a terrific church. I’m proud of that church. We’ve got a wonderful young pastor who’s there, who’s doing, uh — continuing the terrific work that the church does, and that’s my commitment. My commitment are to the values of — of that church.”
So Obama’s commitment is: “to the values of — of that church.”
Then let me say this again: “Everyone focuses on the words of the pastors while ignoring the congregation. Look at these video tapes. The congregation is on its feet, clapping and cheering these words. The congregatin is exchanging high-fives. The congregation is in complete and total agreement with the racist sentiments of these pastors. You cannot separate the words of the pastors and the reaction of the congregation.
So is Obama ‘committed’ to black racism as is his church?
Taking this long to do it just proves how really stupid he is.
