The closest comparison to this election is that of 1960. JFK (Obama) vs Nixon (McCain). Young, charismatic and Catholic vs Old(er), shady-looking and WASP.

Now we have young, charismatic and Black vs Old(est), establishment and WASP.

Kennedy had to steal that election to win. That in spite of getting 90% of the Catholic vote.

IMHO, Obama wins the following states: Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Rhode Island, New York, California, Illinois, Hawaii and Oregon.

Most whites will vote McCain. They just won't admit it.
