His reasons for leaving are that evertime someone from there speaks, the comments are connected to him AND the church itself is getting unfair and unfavorable coverage. He did say the comments of Flegher were inappropriate, but he wishes all his friends at the church good will and praises the work done by both Wright and Flegher.
In other words, he can’t deal with the commentary and criticism...so he is bailing.
How is the church "getting unfair and unfavorable coverage" when the congregation, the majority of the so-called church, is in full agreement with the radical statements/positions it's leaders enspouse? He is in essence saying that we, the public, can't understand what the statements made by the leaders, the cheering by the congregation say about themselves and the man who sat with them for twenty years. Truly insulting.
