That’s the daughters place. She had the grandkids over there last weekend helping here plant flowers and the grandaughter, who is almost 7, goes “Hey it’s warm in the compsot pile”

The daughter who teaches science in middle school explained that was because the bacteria was still working. So now the granddaughter is worried about the “cooties” :-)

Once I picked up compost over in Ka'u at a Macadamia nut farm. Mac nut husks and hulls are tough to break down into usable compost so the maker used beaver enzymes to speed up the process. It created so much heat that it nearly took the paint off the truck bed. You'd get a first degree burn handling it.

Tell you Granddaughter there's no way she's gonna get cooties from the 'hot stuff'.
