Thanks for your response, Dan Calabrese.

The author, Paul Ibrahim, would have been more honest if he had presented the real reasons for opposition to the ChiCom regime the very real dangers posed by China to US interests and global peace. Right now, this article reads like a position paper released by Norinco or one of the other PLA front companies. When one-sided and misleading articles are posted, it's but natural that some readers will react accordingly.

Fact - the US is currently involved in one of the largest transfers of wealth in recent history with entire sectors of the economy being shipped off to China. None of this has resulted in increased responsibility or decency within the Chinese/PLA regime. One side is benefitting much more than the other is this ridiculous "free" trade relationship and it's not the US.

The ChiComs are still sending arms to the terrorists in Iraq, tacitly supporting Iran's nuclear recalcitrance, subverting the civilized world's efforts to end the genocide in Darfur, and working actively to eliminate US influence and relationships in Asia and Africa. Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte recently "warned China over weapon links in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan" [Source: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2016611/posts].

In this month’s Far Eastern Economic Review, Michael A. Ledeen of the American Enterprise Institute describes how Beijing may be successfully integrating economic reforms with their authoritarian system and becoming a "mature facist state." This assertion is grounded in facts and discredits the free traders' myth that "where goods flow freely across borders, peace is the result." [Source: http://www.feer.com/essays/2008/may/beijing-embraces-classical-fascism]

"China’s military is not so subtly preparing the capability to defeat U.S. forces in Asia in order to prevent intervention in any conflict on its periphery" and is creating a Sino-Russo-Muslim axis throught the creation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization AKA "Treaty on Deepening Military Trust in Border Regions" [Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shanghai_Cooperation_Organisation]

Paul Ibrahim didn't cover any of these key facets (and consequences) of the US-China "free" trade relationship in his screed. Additionally, he makes out the opposition to China to be one of economic protectionism while ignoring the real reasons behind conservative opposition to short-sighted enabling of the world's biggest bully and the next super-fascist regime.

I think trade with the chicoms is a one way street favoring them and it must stop.

Excellent post, indcons. You make a great case that free trade does not spread freedom or accountability. As long as the official position of PLAN is to go to war with the U.S. before we start a war with them. As long as they continue to build an offensive military at record pace with profits from "free trade." As long as they help terrorist nations like Iran and others and as long as they treat large portions of their own populations like slaves I will oppose free trade and boycott all Chinese products.

There are a number of Chinese products that I really like. There are many things about traditional Chinese culture that I appreciate and would welcome more knowledge of and experience with. I can only wish for the best for the Chinese people as I do for all people. But the CCP is in control and they are as evil and dangerous as any regime has ever been. Free trade with them is a mistake and a fool's dream to think it will change them. It is no different than Obama's "Hope and Change" nonsense. It is the same delusional thinking as all liberal garbage. It has no grounding in reality and is disconnected from the inevitability of cause and effect.
