He probably hates us for the Dan Rather thing - God, how these guys love to dish it out but are sooooo thin skinned when it comes to themselves.
Yes he was canned for plagiarism.
When I worked in the Boston State House years ago, many people on legislative staff felt that Mike made up stories to suit his needs as a columnist. That included former reporters working as press secretaries.
Mike’s a great writer...as long as he doesn’t write anything.
Wasn't me. Wouldn't be prudent.
Barnicle is a bar stool blogger.
Is that Mike “Mr. Plagiarism” Barnicle????
He has no standing to say anything about anyone, concerning the “news.”
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back when he was "working" at the Globe, he was the king of the F1 "tearjerker" Mad Lib column. Simply press F1 on the computer keyboard, supply an ethnic sounding first and last name, a street location in Dorchester, and presto: you have an article about how life is great for people who sit in the front row at Fenway Park while poor ol' < fill in ethnic sounding name > lugs 250 bags of groceries up the stairs of her triple decker in < fill in street location in Dorchester >. Man, he phoned it in at least 4 times a month with that kind of bravo sierra.
You have got to be kidding. Bloggers are distinct because they are not part of the MSM. The MSM has built up the myth over the years that it takes some type of special talent to go somewhere, observe an event and then report on it. These days they seldom actually observe first hand, have little knowledge of the circumstance of an event, generally tend to lie about or skew the nature of the events and have no idea of what research or objectivity is. When I was in college the school of journalism is where half-wits and lazy went when they could not make it in any other college including the school of education.
Barnicle, the so called moral maven is nothing more than a corrupt plagiarist!!
Unlike Barnacle and other “journalists”, bloggers didn’t drink their way through 4 years of a joke of a college curriculum. They didn’t spend years listening to Woodward and Bernstein wannabes or ex-Pravda reporters giving lessons on truth, fairness and ethics. They didn’t spend years working in some left wing propaganda factory, where traditional American values are denigrated daily and anyone expressing opinions to the contrary the quickly eliminated. Yup, without the degree, the little people can’t be allowed to present information, especially when history shows they often do it better than the “professionals”.
Bloggers can do no worse than the media. At least with blogging the subject changes, unlike the media that hangs on a subject day after day with nothing new to offer.
"In 1998, Barnicle was forced to resign from the Boston Globe amid questions about the sources of two of his columns. The first column, dated August 2, 1998, allegedly contained unattributed material from the 1997 book Brain Droppings by George Carlin.[1] Review of previous Barnicle columns by the Globe revealed another possible fabrication in an October 8, 1995 piece. The column recounted the story of two sets of parents with cancer-stricken children. When one of the boys, a black child, died, the parents of the other boy, a white child who had begun to recover, sent the dead child's parents a check for $10,000 USD. When the Globe could not locate the people in the story, Barnicle said he did not obtain the story from any of the parents, but from a nurse, yet did not produce the name of the nurse. When editors could not find a death that matched that of the child's in the piece, Barnicle was asked to resign.[2] "
These useless snobs think that people who are actually participants of a story have no right to tell their tale and must rely on "journalists", as though writing is so difficult as to not be tried by mere mortals.
barnicle sure is an appropriate name for a guy clinging to the sinking ship that is msnbc
Amen! Amen!
I assume he only means RIGHT WING bloggers. Those at Daily Kos and DU are given invites to the Democratic Convention, right?
Mike Royko was not available for comment and if he was Barnicle would lift it as his own. Go back to the “Mean Streets” of Lincoln scab.
