I think there should be a trade. Israel should tell the Palestinians terrorists that they will trade. That if they are peaceful that they will not destory them. The current policy of coddling them has failed and is costing Israeli (Arab and Jewish) lives.
Some forget that Israeli citizens are not just Jewish and that many of those who are dying are not just Jew or Christian but also Arab/Muslims. Muslims not Israel or the US are the most singular cause of violent death to other Arabs and Muslims. There is no reason to pretend that this is just an Israeli problem that can be solved by Israeli submission to poor Palestinians driven from their homes by evil Jews.(A common myth) It is an extension of a problem in the Muslim world where both Muslim on Muslim violence and a thirst for Jihad is being used to achieve political goals.
When the common Palestinian fears the Jews more than they fear their local Imans they will drag the terrorists into the streets and kill them for us. The soft approach just sends the message that they are winning. We should take a lesson from Iraq. The Surge has worked wonders not just because we were successful in killing more terrorists but also that it became very clear that helping Alqaeda was a losing proposition. Israel might want to consider a similar approach. Isolate the Terrorist organizations by declaring war on them. Recruit Palestinians interested in Peace and who are ProIsrael and build them up financially and politically. Bomb terrorist rallies and ban funeral processions for terrorists.
There are all kinds of things that can be done. Right now terrorism is a convenient political weapon in Israel. Dead terrorists and their supporters don’t cause trouble especially after enough of them die that no one can remember them by name. The mistake is talking with any of them as if they are equals. What did Arafat accomplish but legitimatize terrorism?
Right now the blood of Israeli citizens is being bartered away one drop at a time. Isn’t it time for Israel to stop the drip drip drip of the blood of its citizens and cast off the yoke of the terrorist threat once and for all? We certainly would not put up with this here in the US. How many social gatherings interrupted by explosions would it take us to pick up arms and say no more? We may very well find out how many if the Palestinian terrorists accomplish their goals in Israel.
