A point of reference?

She's studied law. She knew exactly what she was saying and to what purpose. This was no mere "slip of the tongue" or attempt to "jog memories". And it was the way she brought it up. And left it all hanging.

Now she wants to play as The Bad Seed, declaring she has no idea whatever happened to the missing tap shoe?

I heard the whole clip. The statement was not particularly alarming when heard in context of a response. No long pauses of disbelief from the reporter. I know Clinton can be calculating, but if she's so clever why make such a stupid statement? The Dems are simply feigning indignation to get her out of the race. Read my earlier blather and you'll see I didn't say "slip of the tongue". It was exactly what she was thinking. Just a poorly used reference in time, nothing more.

She's studied law.

Do they teach to use words "I" and "you know" in just about every sentence in law school?

No wonder The Beast appeals to undereducated white "working class".

I watched the whole long and dull interview, the money quote not yet having been extracted and YouTubed. It was mostly tedious policy wonkery about ethanol and Indian reservations and such. Towards the end, the editors asked her why she was staying in the race. The assassination reference was merely a note in the context of a standard-issue Clinton deception, namely that the fact that Bobby was still running when he was murdered in June meant that campaigns lasting into June is normal (and a justification for her continuing on). The deception lies in the fact that forty years ago the campaign season got a much later start. The editors didn't call her on her distortion of history. Nor did they react perceptibly to her use of the a-word.

So, intentional? I think not. She's plenty smart enough to know use of the assassination word in the Obama context would be a gaffe.

No, this was a classic thoughtless Freudian slip. She carelessly gave us a glimpse of what's in her head. Assassination is the one sure thing on the ever shorter list of ways she can still win it. She just let it out because it happened to be germane to the historical event she was deceptively adducing.
