Clinton’s Reference to Slaying of Robert Kennedy Stirs Uproar

BRANDON, S.D. — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton defended staying in the Democratic nominating contest on Friday by pointing out that her husband had not wrapped up the nomination until June 1992, adding, “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”

Her remarks were met with quick criticism from the campaign of Senator Barack Obama, and within hours of making them Mrs. Clinton expressed regret, saying, “The Kennedys have been much on my mind the last days because of Senator Kennedy,” referring to the recent diagnosis of Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s brain tumor. She added, “And I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and in particular the Kennedy family was in any way offensive.”

Still, the comments touched on one of the most sensitive aspects of the current presidential campaign — concern for Mr. Obama’s safety. And they come as Democrats have been talking increasingly of an Obama/Clinton ticket, with friends of the Clintons saying that Bill Clinton is musing about the possibility that the vice presidency might be his wife’s best path to the presidency if she loses the nomination.

From post 38: “Which remark do you think was the most dangerous for America? I would think the threat of Nationalizing American businesses would have sent a collective (wrong word?) chill down everyone’s spine. But it’s being ignored. Why? Could it be because the media is in bed with them?”

I think maine-iac is spot on. There have been numerous surveys of journalism and mass communications majors for some years-a vast majority of them admitted that their political views are left of center (socialists maybe?). I think many if not most of the people in the MSM are very supportive of Waters’s views.

Hillary Clinton is the most intentionally divisive, slimy, crass, lying lowlife political hack that we have had the unfortunate experience to see and be thrust upon us for over 16 years and she still doesn't get it.

What's she not getting is that the world has changed and sadly she still is fighting the battles of the 60's with the same old and tired out senseless rhetoric.

Whatever excuse, blame, or desire she wishes to propose as reasons for her continuance, tribulations and/or failures is a result of other circumstances other than the truth which is the product, herself.

This week alone we have heard such extreme examples of desperation, the voters are sexist, the voters are racist, hard working white people vote for me, the failure to seat Michigan and Florida delegates is the same as granting women the right to vote, or freeing the slaves, and if it doesn't happen it would be tantamount to what has been happening with the election in Zimbabwe. As ridiculous as she sounds these things can be almost forgiven.

However, her reference today to Robert Kennedy's assassination in June 40 years ago, and this is not the first time she has said these things, is not forgiveable.

The remembered and heartbreaking images her icily reckless words invokes are horrific and for those of us who were very young at that volatile time in our history cringe at her carelessly ghoulish statement especially when her democrat opponent has already received according to the media several threats.

I cannot read her mind, but I can hear her words and see her face as she uttered such profane and vile words and she did not appear to react at all, she remained quite comfortable in her explanation, as if it were perfectly normal for her to think in such terms and have thought these thoughts as reasons for her to continue on in the primary race just in case.

Mrs. Clinton you are not fit to serve in the highest elected office of our great nation.

I think many if not most of the people in the MSM are very supportive of Waters’s views.

The only objection man "journalists" would have is that Waters let the cat out of the bag.

They went to J-School so that they could help make "a better world". A socialist world is what they have in mind.

At the same time, Obama's "change" has more to do with the sixties than with the aughts...

I still say that making this an "issue" is nothing more than a weapon, a smear, against Senator Clinton. It's what leftist do, even among themselves. But 999 percent of the time these "issues" weapons are launched at conservatives hourly around the clock.

Now the Nytimen (a fellow Freeper used the more descriptive clinical term, Nytwits, the other day) opine that Mrs. Clinton raised "concern for Mr. Obama’s safety."

(That is one of those "issues" weapons aimed at conservatives; it was the "issue" of conservatives physically harming Senator Obama that was raised by the Left to smear conservatives -- including by the Nytwits, I bet.)

Nytimese is difficult for me to interpret but Obama’s safety does seem to be the argument against Senator Clinton.

Given that it was a Clinton who referenced the murder I can see the point.

This is media driven, and the media is in the tank for Obama. Obama sees an enemy behind every tree. McCain and Hillary should start questioning Obama’s mental state for being so paranoid. Everything is about him or an attack on him, even the President’s speech in the Knesset.

Listen, this is a Friday flash in the pan. Forgotten by Monday. The media will fan the fires on the Sunday shows, but this will be replaced by something else by next week.

Hillary will be the nominee. Obama will beg to be the VP by the time she is through with him at the convention.

Pass the popcorn.

She’s dead, Jim.

Bones, we won't be seeing Denver burn.

Mr. Chekov, set course for November.

Mr Sulu, take us out of orbit.

What is the background music on that site?

The name of that song is "Only Time" and it's sung by Enya.

This is clearly a SEVERE Freudian Slip which exposed her down to her bones---for the whole world to see.

I disagree. I'm no Hillary fan but I THINK THIS IS MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING!!! She was merely saying RFK was assassinated in June while running for the nomination, illustrating that the Primary Campaign in '68 went on for a long time.

It would've been much ado about nothing in any normal campaign. But with all the talk this past year about B-HO getting Arkancided it's a different story entirely.

Well, talk of B-HO getting “Arkancided” is only talked about on websites like Free Republic and possibly amongst some other political junkies who know the Clintons will stoop to anything. But, amongst the general population, nah.

Oh no Manfred...if so dame Hussein OB where murdered, many dim cities will burn to the ground, and a public lynching of Hillery and Bill would be demanded to vote for the dims ever in the future, and even then only half of the Blacks would vote for the dims...the dims made this mess by pandering for a vote, now they can damn well PAY!!!

amongst the general population, nah.

You'd be surprised. The Clintons' ruthlessness is hardly a secret, and talk of Obambi being a target is quite common outside of our little circle.
