I’m well aware of Jim’s feelings on this and we shared a favorite candidate (Fred Thompson). I also liked Duncan Hunter. However, it became obvious pretty quickly that Thompson wasn’t even really interested in running. We were left with the rest of the field, and I did not think it prudent to attack our own because of the potential consequences (that being we end up with one of the weakest candidates possible). Romney and Guiliani were also seriously flawed, but I just happen to think they were better than McCain by a good margin.
Also, I’m not trying to be confrontational. I may have disagreements with Jim but I know he’s done a great service for the conservative cause. It just struck me as odd he’d be referring to McCain as a “turncoat RINO” (which, byt the way, is a pretty accurate description) seeing as the site (at least to me) had a big influence in giving us McCain as the candidate.
Voting "against" the Democrats has destroyed America. The Lesser of two evils will produce evil.
If you could care less about the future of America, then go vote for McCain.
The Blood of the Patriots will wash over you for the rest of your lives. And your sins will follow your children.
Go ahead and reward your Masters in the GOP. You are Subjects and are ruled like sheep. Every election it's the same crap and it works like a charm. Your Vote is cast for you for the rest of your days.
I am ready for the fight, it won't be pretty
Will not vote for RINO.
There are many issues in this post here. First, in the above post I mentioned that while I have disagreements with Jim I appreciate the service he and this site have done. The vast majority of people on this site are good as well, though obviously a few bad apples exist.
Now, why do the GOP keep shooting themselves in the feet? The most obvious explanation to me is that they are Republicans, not conservatives. I cannot stand the pandering that goes on from both sides. It used to be that being Republican meant being conservative, but that’s clearly no longer the case. Maybe you’re referring to the GOP nominating McCain as shooting themselves in the foot, which would also be a valid argument. I don’t know. I do know that I just don’t understand the whole logic behind the “suicide vote.” By that I mean the idea that the country is doomed regardless of who’s in office and we might as well let the Democrats get the blame. I was not alive for the Carter debacle so I don’t know what that was like.
However, I do know that the media did nothing to Clinton despite his numerous faults (imagine if Bush had perjured himself!). Bush has been blamed for absolutely everything that went wrong in this country and half of everything that didn’t. I believe the media exists to attack conservatism day in and day out. They’re a big reason we’re in this mess right now. Going back to 2006, George Allen uttered one word that I had never, ever heard mentioned as a “racial slur” yet the media used it to torpedo his campaign and in the process destroy the Republican 2008 frontrunner.
So, what's it gonna be folks? Turncoat RINO or America hating Marxist?
Well ... since I'm stuk hear in ILLernoise (gnu I shuda whent to collage), my vote in that category is irreverent.
So I think I'll do something important that day, like rearrange my sock drawer (unless there's some bs tax raising referendum on that ballot).
And Welcome Home Jim
I’ll be busy working the local polling station that day. I doubt I’ll have time to vote.
I still plan to protest by writing in TOM TANCREDO.
But, in today's reality even four years of a communist POTUS with a liberal Congress as his rubber stamp could do more damage than we could repair.
And, welcome back.

Hell, you could vote six times...
I wish more knuckleheads would understand your astute observation.
I'm not comfortable with compromise.
Its important. The troops are depending on us. Vote for the turncoat RINO.
He may be wrong on everything else but he (probably) won’t betray the troops.
Absolutely agree.
I won’t vote for McCain for “party unity.”
I will do it to prevent a worse disaster from occurring.
I see voting AGAINST McCain, at this point, as cutting off one’s proverbian nose to spite one’s proverbial face.

Which one would that be?
I'm voting for John McCain. I don't want that Marxist, Muslim Militant anywhere near the White House.
Catchy line.
