Ridiculous.
Thousands of alcoholics die every time there is a report such as this released. The alcohol doesn’t help anything.
The same benefit would be achieved from drinking grape juice.

Would a fine glass of port and some nice cheese work as well?

"The same benefit would be achieved from drinking grape juice." I agree. And, eat your blueberry pie too.

At least post a link before you spout off supposed facts.
From what I have read moderate alcohol consumption has health benefits.

Studies show that grape juice does not have the same benefits for the heart as red wine. I got that from a very well learned research physician whose specialty is pharmacology.

My first gastro dr told me I could have a glass of wine a day. He also told me I was going to die lol. When you have chronic Hep C as I do its really better to just drink red grape juice. I read somewhere that when you have Hep C drinking alcohol is like tossing gasoline on your liver & lighting a match. So I don't drink. Now that the biopsy said I have no liver damage my new dr told me I could drink a bit here & there but whats the point? I like pomegranate juice.

Are you trying to kill me? I used to love vodka in my baked potato with sour cream but those days are over for me.
