A string of polls conducted by the Suffolk University Political Research Center over the past month--in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and, now, West Virginia--show that roughly 20 percent of Democratic primary voters are ready to vote for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in November if their choice candidate isn't the nominee.
The latest survey, which questioned 600 likely voters in Tuesday's West Virginia Democratic presidential primary, shows Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) trouncing Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), the national front-runner, by 36 points in West Virginia, 60 percent to 24 percent.
Obama may be his party's presumptive nominee, but the Suffolk University poll indicates it is unlikely he can carry this battleground state that Democrats have won in eight of the last 12 presidential elections.
The poll shows that almost a quarter of Democratic voters in the state (23 percent) say they will vote for Republican nominee McCain in November if their candidate loses the nomination battle. (See Poll ). Only 40 percent now say they will vote for the Democratic Party's eventual nominee no matter what happens in the primaries, while nearly a third said they would be undecided. Six percent say they will support independent candidate Ralph Nader.

Here is the problem. That 20% are the conservative Dems who won’t take kindly to any global warming BS.
Obama could get to his right in OH, MI and PA on this issue (but he won’t. He is committed to this liberal youth movement).
"You keep saying that. Unfortunately, there are a good number of us that say the same thing about McCain."
I didn't want McCain either, especially as how I am in the energy industry, but he is an option, Obama is not.
“One in Five Democrats Set to Defect to McCain, Polls Show”
Many conservatives will not vote for McBackstabber because we have principles. He may get very lucky in that Democrats and liberal Republicans don’t seem to suffer from the same affliction.
Gollleee! Three in five conservatives can’t stand McCain.
Its a stand off.
I just love being told to vote for a moron a Democrat would vote for.
McCain is a liberal “R” choice for Democrats. That is not sufficient for a conservative.
This election smells, and the aroma is, liberal, socialist, communist. I am not buying it.
I received a survey and fundraising letter in the mail today from Senator John McCain (funded by the RNC) and I just can’t decide exactly how to explain to them that it is a lost cause in this home. Wouldn’t even waste my time except that there is a postage-paid envelope included.
FR needs to get calibrated on reality.
1) OIL. OIL. OIL. For the next 40 years, a supply of oil to fuel the US economy’s prominence is the NUMBER ONE issue facing America. Only McCain wants to win in Iraq, and only a permanent military presence there will provide some sense of reliability to supply.
2) And here’s the tough reality . . . Item #1 is all that matters for the next 40 years. Muslim or Chinese dominance will have you sending tribute to their countries. Only victory can prevent this and save freedom. And only McCain won’t cut and run.
Great post.
Two in five republicans announced they will vote for the Liberal
I quit the "Party" 10 years ago, but continued voting for their candidates, mostly against the alternative choice.
And today it won't be hard at all just to ignore them completely and "vote for" the candidate of "my" choice. That choice includes "none of the above".
Pray that it does me too.
You, sir, are spot on.
You say that the ‘Rats are John McCain’s ace, and I hope that’s all he’s counting on.
I see on another thread that the Communist Party USA has “come out” for Obama. I’m afraid McCain may have been counting on them, too. He’s certainly said less to offend them than he has to offend conservatives!
I’m defecting by voting for McCain as well.
Doubt that will compensate for all the conservatives the idiot has lost due to the amnesty and global-warming speeches.
Pull you head out of your a$$.
Sometimes we don't get the candidates we want, that doesn't mean the system is broken.
If you don't like the candidates that's great. Our democratic process works fine.
Easily.
Well said... but did you check out the West Virginian citizens’ sentiments ... a headline on Drudge about 20 minutes ago.
Voting is no longer the solution.

If anyone saw the segment could they fill me in on what was said.
