It has been done. I know someone who had a pancreas/kidney transplant done at the same time.

However it is basically done only if the kidney is being replaced. It is easier to take care of diabetes thru medication than the problems that can come from a transplant.

I think it is rare for someone to get just a pancreas transplant.

Wow. That is amazing.

I just had a Dr. tell me a few weeks ago that the meds you would have to take would be impossible to do.

Glad to hear it works!

What if someone has pancreatic cancer - has a transplant been done in this case?

I just don’t know.

My guess would be no. That is a fast acting cancer. The odds of finding a match would be limited. And I don’t know if they put transplant organs in people who have cancer.

Makes sense. I should have thought it out. Thank you for answering my questions - I really appreciate it.
