You seem to know a lot about earthquakes. I just felt my first one last month on “the madrid fault” scared the hell out of me. I am just curious about quakes, always have been, since my science teacher taught me how close I live to a major fault.
Thanks

I am about 80 miles north of the New Madrid, but the main fault that has been giving us trouble in the area is the Wabash Valley Zone. I am about 125 miles to the west of it.

I live in IL on the MO/IL line.

Any quakes that are 3.5 or higher coming from the New Madrid or the Wabash Valley I feel.

The 5.2 we had a couple weeks ago shook hard here for about 45 seconds. I knew right away when it woke me up that it was the Wabash Valley Fault because it has produced a few 3.5 quakes or higher in the last 10 years or so. The New Madrid quakes hardly ever reach 3.5 mag.

I prey we never see a 5.5 or higher coming out of the Wabash Valley or the New Madrid.
