An earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale has hit China's Sichuan province. The tremor was felt across the entire region - shaking buildings in the capital, Beijing, as well as the Thai capital, Bangkok, and Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. US Geological Survey said the quake struck 57 miles north-west of the city of Chengdu at 2.29pm local time (6.28am GMT).

Some 10 million people live in Chengdu.

I personally think they should let some US SAR teams in to help out with this.

From the article:

"According to the Sichuan provincial government on Tuesday morning, the Wenchuan earthquake has caused severe cracks in the dam of the Zipingpu Hydropower Station. The plant and associated buildings have collapsed, and some are partly sunk. The whole installation is out of commission."

So there is no power now nor water? Prayers for everyone in that area.

Oh Lord, oh Lord, please help give strength to the rescuers. How hard it must be to come upon children like this, with life taken from them in a moment. These rescuers must be able to continue onward as I’m sure there are pockets of air sustaining some miracles waiting to be found. These are your children. We are your children. We are all one family in You, and though we are half the earth away, please open all hearts of the Chinese people that they may feel how we too would be digging and lifting out their collapsed buildings if we were there. Let our prayers Lord, be of great help in their time of great need.

We pray in Your name.

Unfortunately, staying outside only works until they run out of food, water, sanitation equipment, first aid, medical supplies or when the weather changes. Hopefully emergency supplies and provisions are on their way.

Distress turns to anger at Chinese soldiers and officials over the response to the huge earthquake

Anger at the government, especially by those one-child families, is understandable. Anger should not be directed at soldiers and officials who are responding. Blame lies elsewhere.

The rescued supplies, such as tent, food ,medicine are sent there already, but the affected people are too many, and the supplies are kept sending.I contribute CNY500 just now.And many people do the same thing.

Primier is in scene and didn’t have a sleep since the disaster happened.I give my great honour to him-a man over 60th.
