Now McCain says he will appoint justices like Alito, but in January he was singing a different tune.
Re: Fund and McCain [Kathryn Jean Lopez]
Yes, the issue is not if McCain helped with Alito but if McCain would nominate an Alito. For what it’s worth, I’ve been told the same thing John F. reported that at a private meeting McCain said he would appoint justices like Roberts, but not like Alito who wears his conservatism on his sleeve. The report of the comment first in D.C. conservative circles and now in the WSJ has set off alarm bells with conservatives who’ve worked on the judicial issues, for obvious reasons. We already got Alito despite a president who wanted to go in another direction. This time, folks feel like they’re being warned beforehand.

Why should we believe he changed his mind since January?
So Roberts is somehow a “loss” when compared to Alito?
You’ve got to be kidding, an Alito will NEVER get past the Senate that is about to be elected and do not kid yourself otherwise.
And you have a problem with McCain appointing justices like Roberts??
We don't. McCain is on the spot now. He must deliver or he will be a 1 term president.
