Man, I really do enjoy your posts. I would like, very much, to agree with you on this, but I can’t.
First of all, times are way different now. Tradition and respect are lost artifacts of our culture and politics.
Secondly, Congress, specifically the Senate, plays a huge role in blocking a renegade POTUS, or one they see as a renegade, like 43. Remember, there were many backstage deals struck to get his noms passed, do you think Barry can muster that much support? In the beginning he may, after he gets rolling, though, he’ll be hated.
Everything McManiac does, will be pinned to Conservatism, and forever will we hear...hey McCain was a Conservative, and he opened the borders, raised taxes, allowed abortions, etc. And if anyone thinks he will appoint a Roberts or Scalia, think again, he’ll cave (reach across the aisle) in a NY second.
Not in my name. Not this time. Not ever again.
I’m pluggin my nose and working hard for Conservatives in Congress, I wrote off POTUS when Fred and Duncan left us.
People really do get the government they deserve.
I will vore for McCain - he will lose anyway, and it’s better to keem Obama’s margin narrow.
Any party in power always finds a way to self-destruct, it just takes 8-10 years or so. Exhibit 1 - GOP 1994-2006, Exhibit 2 - UK Labor 1997-2008.
Economic growth will be sluggish in the next 10 years, and by 2014 the Dems will be in as much trouble as GOP right now.
Yes, Obama will win(ouch!), and in 2009 he will have his honeymoon period. There will be over 245 Dems in the House, and 56 to 58 in the Senate. Probably, some kind of healthcare reform will pass, some regulatory schemes as well. They will work just as great as Mitt-care does in MA.
By 2010, GOP will start reducing these majorities, fast if economy is in trouble (and it is likely to be).
If McCain wins, the Dems will hold to power till 2020, I’d guess.
