Those dogs...my BIL gave us one...he never gives stuff away...I told my husband....nah..he's my brother.

That dog ate the heads off my chickens, went thru the screened window to try to get to a guina pig and chased a rabbit into the house one day. Fur was flying everywhere. He went to a new home real fast.

Maybe I should of added “they need proper training as puppies”. We had one as a child. I can vouch for their protective nature, sociability and absolute hatred of Coyotes. Sadly a screened window will not stop them if they spot their prey. ;-(

Like most spitz breeds, Elkhounds WILL go after animals it considers to be “game”. They need firm, consistent training to learn the difference between varmints and livestock/pets you don’t want them to kill.
