Unfortunately the best games all seem to have been written in the past Not true. Excellent games are being made now, and the best of the past are what survived amidst a sea of crud. The difference being that you notice today's crud, but forgot yesterday's.

Excellent games are being made now,Eve-online springs to mind. I've never been much of a gamer, but Eve is a good game, highly complex, challenging, and is reflective of whatever morality you bring to the game.
